Removing references
[edit]I don't know what you are doing removing references such as this one used in the article Ctenactis echinata. This is a book, for goodness sake, not a dodgy scientific journal article. In my view, you are doing a great disservice to Wikipedia. Please stop. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:16, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
- Umm. I actually did think we had some sort of policy of not linking to sources by predatory publishers, although I can't find anything right now. Mistaken? -- Elmidae (talk) 11:27, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
- @Elmidae: There has been much discussion here. But each use of a source should be considered individually, and whereas background information, as in my coral article is acceptable, cutting edge findings may be viewed with suspicion. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:02, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
- I see. Will be interesting to see with what official take WP ends up in this regard in the near future. Still, I reckon losing the possibly-equal-to-unreferee'd additional source is the safer bet, if the statement is already otherwise sourced? (I'm not sure User:Gongwool is doing that kind of basic diligence check though) -- Elmidae (talk) 12:20, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

Elmidae, Cwmhiraeth, Looie496 thanks for your input and no offense intended. Correct I did not do a thorough diligence check on each topic when removing the predatory publisher cites. I assumed you people probably know the topics and alternative cites better than I do and are best placed to work out the best way to move forward. Gongwool (talk) 21:55, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
- Let me direct your attention to WT:MED#On the use of Frontiers journals as sources. Your input there would be valuable. Looie496 (talk) 16:04, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Please email me, if you know Rachie then we have probably met online. Guy (Help!) 09:08, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Guy but no I don't, but am well read on Rachie. Nor am I member of SAVN. Brian Martin is trying to create conspiracy between Judy Wilyman WP page and SAVN, he can't stop writing about SAVN as he's fixated. Sorry to disapoint him but there ain't no conspiracy. SAVN's nice but I'm not involved with them or any other group. Thanks for your diplomacy on other Mnookin issue. T'was hard work but got there in the end. Wilyman image
[edit]That image is not free and is likely to be deleted from Commons on that basis. If you want to include it you need to upload it to Wikipedia (not Commons), and make a compelling argument for fair use. Bilby is enforcing policy, you are treating him like an antivax loon, but you have no evidence for doing so and if you continue then I can pretty much guarantee you'll get topic banned. Guy (Help!) 13:57, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Guy, I know little about that photo and maybe you could upload it to Wikipedia fair use, as you have the know how and interest. My intention at WP is to improve the encyclopedia and go with the general POV of sources. Biblys intention on vax-academic topics shows he is skilled at whitewashing, twisting words opposingly from their general POV, akin to Martin and Wilyman, edits show such. If I am banned for my attempts to improve WP by resisting Biblys unacademic agenda on anti-vax-academics, then WP has very little cred, and there's nothing I can do to change that. Thanks for advice. Look forward to you uploading that photo as discussed if you can. Gongwool (talk) 14:51, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
