Caponata merge[edit]

Why did you merge Caponata to Eggplant salads and appetizers? You did not give a reason. Also, I notice that your merge was incomplete; most notably you left out the references. These are necessary for verification. I will revert the merge back if you have no objection. -kotra (talk) 18:57, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick response. Concerning your reason for merging, we do not merge articles just because one is a type of another. For example, Banana has its own article, even though it's a type of Fruit. Instead, we use categories to group articles of a similar broad subject. According to Help:Merging and moving pages, articles are only merged if the two articles are similar (like George Walker Bush and George W. Bush) or redundant (one of the articles has all the information found in the other article). Caponata was not either, it was an article that went into a level of detail that is probably beyond the scope of Eggplant salads and appetizers. The Caponata article is still archived (with the references) here, if you're curious.
Here's a solution: we can have both a standalone Caponata article and a short description of caponata in Eggplant salads and appetizers, using a {{Main}} template like this. What do you think? I can fix it myself if you're busy. -kotra (talk) 00:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I also notice you have merged several other dishes into Eggplant salads and appetizers, when they are more properly their own articles. I can fix these as well. -kotra (talk) 00:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I have to go now though, so I'll get to it by tomorrow at the latest. -kotra (talk) 00:51, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the delay. I've fixed up Baba ghanoush and Caponata, the two most detailed articles. I'll take a look at the others soon, but I think at least some of them are short enough anyway that they're probably better off merged like you made them. -kotra (talk) 06:26, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chili cookoff merge[edit]

I notice you've recently merged Chili cookoff into Cook-off with the rationale "Due to request". I didn't see any merge request on Talk:Chili cookoff, so could you be a bit more specific? Sorry if I'm being dense! Also, if it's all right, I'd like to ask if you could hold off on any more merges for a bit while we sort this out. Hope it's no trouble. -kotra (talk) 00:43, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Palican Salatasi redirect[edit]

Hi Grade4, In August 2008 you created the redirect Palican Salatasi. I assume that this was a typo so I have created Patlican Salatasi and have tagged the former one as a {{R from misspelling}}. If it was just a typo and you would like to get rid of it, you can do so via WP:CSD#G7 (author requests deletion) by placing a {{db-author}} on the redirect page. If this is a valid alternative spelling, then the {{R from misspelling}} should be removed. -- ToET 04:53, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
