Conflict of interest

[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Emilia Dalby, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you.

Well, a head and shoulder shot of her in a bikini is a shot of her in a bikini, although I'm scarcely going back to the site to verify that. That being said, that I was singing Handel and Sibelius decades before your daughter was born, have sung in ten languages and have judged juried classical performance and early music competitions is quite irrelevant ... because all that is relevant is whether your daughter qualifies under WP:MUSIC for a Wikipedia article. In this stage of her career she does not, and nine Wikipedia editors unanimously concurred; their own backgrounds (or lack thereof) in classical music or performance are equally irrelevant to the issue. As has been posted to your talk page, this is why editing where you have a clear conflict of interest (WP:COI) is heavily discouraged. I recommend you review WP:PILLAR for detailed links on our policies and guidelines for articles, and wish your daughter luck in her career.  Ravenswing  19:57, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Aaaand ... a year down the road, Ms. Dalby seems to have dropped off the map. She's made no new recordings, there hasn't been a citation in Google News in over a year, and her website's vanished. The editors who voted to delete her article judged such an article premature, and their judgment looks sound.  Ravenswing  13:36, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Six years later, more of the same. Dead air. I hope your daughter's doing well, but those editors' judgment is still holding steady. Ravenswing 12:07, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
