Sasikrishnan - Founder of Phil~aesthoism movement of Art

Sasikrishnan is a renowned Indian painter, sculptor, art director, art teacher, graphic designer, poet and writer. He is also the founder of the Phil~aesthoism movement of Art. Known for his originality, inventiveness and brilliance, Sasi is highly sought after in his various capacities as jury, resource person, academician, artist etc.

He was born on 4 August 1966 as the son of social workers Krishnan and Kalyani and belongs to the Kalari Kandiyil family of Muttungal, Vadagara, Calicut. His earliest exposure to art was inspired by his father’s architectural ventures in his little village in Vadagara. Drawing motivation from the idyllic settings of his native village little Sasi was drawn towards art from early childhood. His undying passion led him to pursue arts as part of college studies and whilst graduating and post-graduating in other streams, he also accomplished degrees in Modern Art, Print Making, drawing and painting as follows:

  3. BFA (Modern Art), DMS Mysore, Karnataka University
  4. Print Making, Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai
  5. KGCE (Drawing & Painting) Kerala School of Arts, Kerala


Career

  • 1988 onwards Davson Arts Vatakara with Artist Ramdas assisting him in theatre arts as a part time artist
  • 1990-92 Commenced his career with K P S (International), Kotagiri Nilgris, India
  • 1992 TATA Tea School, India as the Head of the Department – Art & Craft, Art Director for their in-house magazine TATA Tea, Official Designer for Tata Tea Munnar till 2003
  • 2003-2010, Chettinad Vidyashram, India, Head of the Department of Fine Arts and Graphics, Official Designer for Chettinad House
  • 2010 onwards, Art Teacher at the Bhavans Indian Educational Institute
