Grappling 'Governing Body" question[edit]

There or the grappling talk page would be fine (if you sign you posts with~~~~, it automatically adds your user name & makes conversation easier to follow)

Recognised yes, but a governing body normally has powers (usually statutory) at lease to regulate events,(like the FA and also has a majority membership, of interested parties, The recent attempts by FILA to become the grappling governing body with a set of rules, almost everyone I've heard discuss has hated, show you can't just make a claim & expect people to follow.

Had a quick look @ the web site & it seem there are sensible people involved but wider publicity is needed. You mention sport England etc but a search for grappling & BJJ on their site brings up nothing relevant. Two places you may want to put it online are Bullshido & MAP. Bullshido.net is bigger and US based, i'd read the read the article before you post.

p.s. Was it the fila thing or the UK registration thing that inspired this? --Nate 14:49, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All in good time ... membership will be open at the Seni '07 ... meanwhile we had to get the international bodies go ahead, then the safety standards .. and now we're opening to members. The remit is that they can make the GAA their voice. We'll be changing the website to accomodate this. So we're not just making a claim .. we're insted hoping that Grapplers if they're serious about what they do, make one so we can 'support the sport' together. ~~~~

ps .. that ~~~~ thing didn't do the trick?

sorry you use 4'~' the 'nowiki stopped it be converted when I posted --Nate 15:25, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I can see were you coming from & seni is a good place to get started but as Wiki is an encyclopaedia you have to prove you are something before you can add it. I didn't remove the link as it's relevant, but calling it a governing body right now is misleading, as it's an aim not a fact. Unfortunately I can't go to seni this year but will mention to people to look out for you who are going --Nate 15:25, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
