Re: Chris de Burgh

[edit]

Hi Great White, I'm a bit uneasy about using that page as a source since it doesn't directly mention Chris de Burgh, so using it to source the "fact" that he's Irish is synthesis. I don't really care about the result of the edit war; I just want the page to accurately reflect its sources! Thinking about it a bit more, the lead section isn't required to have any sources at all, because it's supposed to be a summary of the entire article. I think I might change it to say "British/Irish" with an HTML comment that says something to the effect of "see the section on his early life". Graham87 11:07, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Meta commentary

[edit]

[1] Meta commentary belongs on the talk page, not in the article. Where you deem it truly helpful, you can insert a hidden comment which will be visible in the edit window like this: <!-- your hidden comment -->. But even then, a comment with an exclamation mark, let alone two, will not be taken seriously by any established editor.

In the case of Branigan's website, why don't you simply include it as a reference to back up your assertion that she is of Irish descent as well as Italian? --78.35.236.44 (talk) 21:17, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Boring? Well, contributing to an encyclopedic project isn't everybody's cup of tea, I grant you that. Alright then. I'll leave it to you whether you want to add this website as a reference, since I couldn't find any mention of her ancestry on the official website. --78.35.236.44 (talk) 21:27, 15 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
