Wiki Edu[edit]

What is the passcode to join the WikiEdu class? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kehli.west (talkcontribs) 22:57, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kehli.west: I assume you mean the WikiEdu dashboard? It's the second link under "Do" on the W1 assignment. Just click it, and you're in. —Grlucas (talk) 11:21, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question--[edit]

I am not seeing my name show up in the journal section after following the instructions. Please advise how to move forward. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tionnetakala (talkcontribs) 03:24, 1 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Tionnetakala: First, be sure to sign your posts here and on all talk pages. Next, I'm not sure what you mean by "the journal section". Could you be more specific? Thanks. —Grlucas (talk) 20:28, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help![edit]

I am very overwhelmed right now, but my most specific question at the moment is my posts are showing up under my "Talk" tab, not under my User Page. How do I change this to the correct location? Thanks!LynzeeWhite (talk) 19:55, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, I figured it out! LynzeeWhite (talk) 20:01, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@LynzeeWhite: Nicely done. What did you figure out? —Grlucas (talk) 20:45, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was able to figure out how I incorrectly had my introduction post under the talk tab, but found the "new section" at the top of the page, and was able to create the post in the correct location. LynzeeWhite (talk) 15:39, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question: RE: Article Topic[edit]

@Grlucas: While deliberating about what topic to use for my project, I have reviewed several pages related to significant historical places in Macon. I have narrowed my choices down to something historical like Luther Williams Field or The Douglas Theatre or taking a different approach and creating a page where none currently exists, like, Amerson River Park. Since I am a beginner with many demands on my time, what are your thoughts and what would you recommend? Mightymize (talk) 22:20, 15 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Mightymize: Great question. (First, always link what you can link (I did one for you).) I think Amerson park would be a great addition and a strong candidate for a first article; it may not require too much more effort and could actually be a bit easier than trying to improve an article. Maybe you can get some of your colleagues to help? —Grlucas (talk) 14:11, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: Thank you for your insight and encouragement. I am leaning towards Amerson. Going to start working on it in my sandbox. Mightymize (talk) 20:16, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Mightymize: Good deal. Let me know how I can help. —Grlucas (talk) 20:36, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Footnotes[edit]

Hello, I am having a difficult time with inserting a footer in when needed. Also, Timothy has different sections for some of his journal posts and I'm not sure if I overlooked that part in training. Can anyone help? Tionnetakala (talk) 01:56, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Tionnetakala: What do you mean, "a footer"? What are you trying to do? Each of your journal posts should have its own, dated section. —Grlucas (talk) 11:40, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: I figured it out. Also, what is the difference between references and external links? Tionnetakala (talk) 18:46, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Tionnetakala: Please review the correct way to reply on talk pages. References will often contain external links. External links should only appear in references. —Grlucas (talk) 21:53, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: And I began editing and including references in my sandbox for the article I picked. I've decided to pick Taliaferro County Courthouse. Tionnetakala (talk) 18:49, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Tionnetakala: Fabulous. That page seems to need some help. Be sure you claim the article on the WikiEdu dashboard. —Grlucas (talk) 21:53, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Post Word Count[edit]

Are points deducted if our journals aren't a 400 word minimum?

@Tionnetakala: I don't care about word count, but I do care about thoughtful and well-supported posts. (I started a new section for a new topic.) —Grlucas (talk) 21:53, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Grlucas: How do I know when my answers have responses on the help page? I'm not receiving alerts. Should I just check back on any possible feedback?Tionnetakala (talk) 23:00, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Tionnetakala: You should receive messages any time you get a reply (like I'm doing here). Alternately, click the star at the top of the page to follow the page; then, get in the habit of looking at the "View history" tab to see any changes or additions. —Grlucas (talk) 14:02, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review[edit]

Has anyone began to peer review their articles? Should we have already started editing the article other than working on it in our sandbox? Are we peer reviewing a classmates progress so far? or editing what needs to be worked on based off the original article that is chosen? Tionnetakala (talk) 23:05, 23 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Grlucas: I don't see any drafts in my classmates sandboxes to peer review. Are we just peer reviewing an article of our choice or the progress made by a classmate on their article topic?Tionnetakala (talk) 04:09, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Tionnetakala: Have a look at the dashboard for the class which lists everyone's assigned article. Check out the article, then see if they've made changes in his or her sandbox. If they've done no work, then you might suggest ways that they begin. There are many ways to approach this. —Grlucas (talk) 11:20, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Social Media For Final Article[edit]

@Dr. Lucas: Is a social media campaign required to be implemented for our final project article? Thanks!—TSchiroMGA (talk) 18:34, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TSchiroMGA: No, but promoting your work is a good thing, right? —Grlucas (talk) 11:41, 20 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Discussions Evaluations[edit]

@Dr. Lucas: Will the Class Discussions be considered as part of our final evaluations twice like the Journals? Thanks!—TSchiroMGA (talk) 18:34, 19 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TSchiroMGA: Discussions have already been evaluated. I will not look at them again. —Grlucas (talk) 11:42, 20 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
