Hiroshi Yamauchi[edit]

I reverted your edit to Hiroshi Yamauchi due to possibility of it being a copyright violation from [1]. Please do not copy and paste material from other sources into Wikipedia.

"Copyright law governs the creative expression of ideas, not the ideas or information themselves. Therefore, it is perfectly legal to read an encyclopedia article or other work, reformulate it in your own words, and submit it to Wikipedia." — Wikipedia:Copyright

K1Bond007 18:23, July 25, 2005 (UTC)

I can't say how much you changed the text to be honest, but I did notice a number of sentences copied straight out. (When I get suspicious of something like this I usually randomly copy a couple sentences and put it in google) I didn't want to take the chance of any problems so I reverted it. I'm not trying to bust you out or anything - it's really no big deal, but I noticed you were relatively new to Wikipedia and I just wanted to point out the rule as I do for most people. I mean no offense by it. As previously stated if you want to rewrite what they have in your own words, that's fine, there's no problem with that. K1Bond007 20:30, July 26, 2005 (UTC)

I fully understand the issue at hand and can assure you there will be no more such case in my future contributions. I am indeed new to Wikipedia and hope to assist in advancing and hence ameliorating articles in relation to computer and video games, and as you may observe in my previous contributions, I plan to do so in total honesty and adherence of the Wikipedia editing polices. As for the section in question, I would be pleased to add to it (as I have already done for the GameCube section), albeit it would be appreciable if we could all do so in a compilation of available information on the subject.
Yours sincerely,

Image issue[edit]

Well first off, I'm not the co-creator or surpervisor of the CVG Wikipedia Project. Not sure why you think that :) I would consider myself a strong supporter. Second, I don't think this image is any good to tell you the truth. Not to say it's not a good idea, but the sizing the image makes it almost impossible to see in an article. Example: Image:Timeline of platform games.jpg

You might want to consider resizing it or coming up with an alternative method of creating a timeline. Regardless, to answer your issue, I've never been sure of that myself. I would consider it {{fairuse}} at the very least. You might want to consider asking at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. If you find an official answer, let me know. Jersey[edit]

Bouônjour, anmîn GrumpyTroll! Thanks for the message. Yes, the Britishness of Jersey is a perennial question. The thing to remember is that Jersey is British but not part of the United Kingdom, having a direct relationship with the Crown. In theory, a Crown dependency (as are the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey, and the Isle of Man) is a territory that comes under the sovereignty of the British Crown rather than being a British overseas territory ultimately under the sovereignty of the UK. Jerseymen and women are British citizens, but note that a Jersey passport, although a British passport, bears the inscription British Islands - Bailiwick of Jersey rather than United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Note: I've unlinked a link to the disambiguation page for "British" in the above paragraph, to reduce crowding on the "What links here" page for that article. Cheers! -- BD2412 talk 14:42, August 19, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the note on Jersey round towers - yes, they're popularly referred to as Martello towers, but for encyclopaedic purposes I think we'd better stick to strict accuracy! The Martello nomenclature could perhaps go in an article on the round towers (not that I'm offering...) Man vyi 14:46, 25 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza made less bureaucratic[edit]

Hello again, I have (unilatterly) taken away the 'assembly' idea, as per my reasons at that edit summary and per Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Charter. I have left the admin general, as some leadership is good. Now, all you have to do is be a member to establish consensus, the whole assembly idea is gone. Also, I have added an advisory committee, of four members, with limited power besides watching over the admin general and making sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Please look at the ammended charter, and I would love a comment. Redwolf24 (talk) 00:11, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm very sorry for spamming you all with these messages, and this will be the last time. I recommend putting ESP on your watchlist. Cheers and please look at that, let's stop the civil war then. Photos of Dinard[edit]

Hi there, I was just working on the Untagged Images project, and came across two images you have uploaded: Image:Dinard_Town_Center.JPG Image:Dinard_Beach.JPG, which do not have any image copyright tags. I have no doubt you took the photos yourself so I have tagged them "GFDL-presumed". If this is indeed the case, and you are willing to licence the images under the GFDL, then please visit the pages and replace the {{GFDL-presumed}} with {{GFDL}}... or any other licensing tag you prefer. Image copyright problem with Image:David Perry.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:David Perry.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 08:19, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Eiji Aonuma.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stan 03:42, 13 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Genesis 1:1–3[edit]

Hi there. Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Genesis 1:1–3, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the relevant issues at Talk:Genesis 1:1–3. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Untagged image[edit]

An image you uploaded, Image:Jersey Coat of Arms.png, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 04:36, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Excitebike 64.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Fair use rationale for Image:Castleoutside.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use Image:Satoru Okada.gif[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Satoru Okada.gif. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 05:13, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:56, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Mega Man X.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mega Man X.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 02:47, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:MPF logo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MPF logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:24, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

need some improvement[edit]

I edited your page slightly. I have to say for a bilingual speaker who is supposedly fluent in English, your syntax is rather poor.

However, good luck with becoming a video game programmer! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.76.66.92 (talk) 01:36, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
