Why would I want to use email? You are welcome to discuss whatever - either here on on my talk. Vsmith (talk) 20:56, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Gryffindor123! - Welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy participating in this collaborative effort to create and maintain this wonderful on-line encyclopedia. It takes a while to learn how to make edits, write articles, find and cite reliable sources, and participate in discussions, and it takes time to learn the guidelines and rules. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Also, learn to use the search box at the top right corner.

I see you have copied most of my user page and, with a few minor changes to captions, made it your own. Since I found all of those images in Wikipedia articles and in Wikimedia Commons, they are not my images, so you are free to use them. However, since it really is my collection, you really ought to post a statement at the top saying that you got these images from my user page with a link to my user page: [[User:Corinne]]. That's what Vsmith meant by giving credit to the user from whose page you got the material. Also, in captions, be careful not to suggest that it was you who took the photo. You'll notice that in most of my captions I gave credit to the person who actually took the photo. (Since I collected and arranged all those images over quite a bit of time, and they reflect my interests and tastes in art, I would really rather you didn't use so much of it; I don't mind if you take a few of them, but not the whole page.)

In the process of "borrowing" most of my user page, you also copied two topicons from the upper right-hand corner that show I have rollback and pending changes reviewer rights. You really shouldn't have those on your user page since you haven't been given those rights. You might get them in the future, but you don't have them now. So I would take those off.

Also, at the bottom of all the images, I had a section of images I had nominated for Featured Picture status and then those images were approved for FP status. You didn't nominate those images, so you really should delete that section.

Finally, I would like to encourage you to create your own user page that reflects you and your interests. You don't have to complete it all at once. You can work on it over time. Look at other editors' user pages to get ideas. Also, read WP:USERPAGE AND WP:User page design center. Regarding how to put images on your user page (or on your talk page, in articles, on article talk pages, etc.), see WP:Picture tutorial. Good luck, and happy editing! Corinne (talk) 22:52, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the Featured Picture section from your userpage. I would suggest that you respect other's work and scale it way back. Especially remove or rewrite the personal captions such as for the tiger and teapot images. Vsmith (talk) 01:50, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My error on those captions, sorry 'bout that. Please read WP:no personal attacks re: this edit. Vsmith (talk) 22:12, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why I think I should be Unblocked

Request reason:

This is my reason for why I should be unblocked. I am blocked because I posted a very inappropriate Appreciation Message Vsmith's talk page, right? The only other horrible thing I did was erase everything on Corrine's user page, but I don't think I was blocked for that. Anyways, I only posted the rude Appreciation Message because I was a bit furious that Vsmith started saying I shouldn't copy off Corrine's user page. Corrine gave me a long talking-to about why I shouldn't have copied her user page. I swear, I apologised to her and gave her an Appreciation Message with a nice long apology. Anyways, I kind of lost my head when Vsmith wrote to me...I get embarassed and shudder when I think about the horrible message I posted on Vsmith's talk page. Whoever reads this unblocking request, please tell Vsmith that I am beyond sorry! I will see to it that I will give him an Appreciation Message like I gave to Corrine. Please, unblock me! I promise that I will never be so abusing again, and you can e-mail my mom at ### so she will know about this. I promise this is my mom's e-mail address. For proof, if you e-mail to this address, she will reply and confirm that she is Gryffindor123's mom. Thanks, and my apologies to Vsmith and Corrine again!Gryffindor123 (talk)

Decline reason:

We're not going to e-mail whoever you've been trying to get us to email. You're welcome to confirm an email address on the site or Wikipedia:Contact_us directly, but due to people attempting to spam other people's email addresses, we don't email arbitrary addresses people tell us to. Sorry. --slakrtalk / 01:44, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Okay! Sorry I put my mom's e-mail address. I swear I will tell her about this and she will send you an e-mail. Anyways, can I please be unblocked? I lost my head when Vsmith wrote to me and I can't apologise enough. And I have a question. Can you become an Administrator even if you're blocked?Gryffindor123 (talk) 13:15, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

it is not clear to me what you intend to write about here. Be so kind as to tell us in your next unblock request, should you choose to make one. You seem to have an obsession about e-mail; I suggest that you forget it. E-mail is a very small and incidental aspect of Wikipedia, and this is not a chat site. To answer your question - you cannot become an admin while you are blocked. You need to have several months of good quality editing history, a record of several thousand edits to your name, and a clean block log at least for several months prior to your application.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 13:33, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
