Shah Ismail I

[edit]

Hello Guardian of the Divine RabbiT, please read WP:BRD. When you edit an article and get reverted, please start a discussion on the article's talk page instead of engaging an edit war. At Ismail I you have been reverted by two users : me and an IP. For your information, the only official language of the Saffavid Empire was Persian, more, the origins of the dynasty were mixed, therefore there is no legit reason to add Shah Ismail's name in Azerbaijani language and not in Kurdish for example, since the Saffavids were also of Kurdish origin. Regards.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 21:50, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Wikaviani, my intention absolutely wasn't to start an edit war, sorry if it seemed to you that I wanted to. I have added the message, why I reverted the edit. In fact, I find edit wars childish. Apart from that, by bringing in an argument about Ismail's possible Kurdish ancestry, you have completely ignored the edit summary, i.e. the fact that Ismail was one of the first notable persons in the history to use Azerbaijani language in literature, with his notable works including numerous verses and books such as Nasihatname and Dahname in Azerbaijani language. Also he was born, lived most of his life and died in Azerbaijan, and his mother tongue was Azerbaijani. In my opinion, these facts suffice to include this remarkable person's name in his mother tongue and it's sad to see that someone is reluctant to do it. If you agree with me, please consider to revert the edit back, if not I can post a message on the talk page of the article. Thanks for your support. Best Regards. Thanks for your answer and clarification. However, i would draw your attention on the fact that Ismail did not live all his life in Azerbaijan, he lived in the new Empire of him, i.e Persia under Safavid rule. Also, as i said previously, the official language of the Empire was Persian, not Azerbaijani or Kurdish, therefore, it seems quite normal to mention him in Persian in his article. That said, feel free to open a discussion or a RfC on the article talk page (i can help you with the RfC, just ask if you need so). Cheers.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 00:43, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I never said that it's not normal to mention his name in Persian. I have just suggested to add Azerbaijani version as well. Btw I have left a message on the talk page: Talk:Ismail_I#Edit_including_Shah_Ismail's_name_in_Azerbaijani_was_reverted. Thanks for your support. Best. Guardian of the Divine RabbiT (talk) 01:24, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, sorry if i was not clear enough, i meant that since Persian was the only official language of the Empire, it seems quite normal to mention only this language. Regards.---Wikaviani (talk) (contribs) 01:36, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The article is not about Safavid Empire, it's about Shah Ismail Khatai. Guardian of the Divine RabbiT (talk) 02:02, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
