Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Guestchef. Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;

  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Hi Dan!

Thanks very much for your help. I declared my COI when creating the draft for The D.A's Office but didn't realise I needed to extend that to editing Dinesh Wicks' page - sorry about that. I have updated my User page to include both COI. No worries re The D.A's Office page - I will wait to re-submit once there are more sources to support the info on the page.

Thanks again :)

Cheers,

User: Guestchef

Sure! I work as a freelance composer for The D.A's Office (of which Dinesh is one of the founders). I have previously worked as a communications consultant and a journalist so Dinesh asked me if I could update his Wikipedia page so it's more accurate. As I worked as a journalist, I have been very careful to remain as objective as possible and have only included information that is factual and supported by the multiple sources (see citations). Of course happy to hear any feedback/ways to improve it :) Cheers
