August 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi Guignolsan! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Elegy of the North that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. hello,
i did the edit quickly because i was watching the movie at the same time. there should be no dispute about it however, there is no doubt about the actress or the name of the character and the role is listed in other dramatis personae and in the ja wikipedia article.
i promise to avoid the same mistake in the future. 2001:861:8BB5:E4D0:8858:E474:4C6F:4D99 (talk) 14:55, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Referring to ja wiki would be selfreferential, but Kinema Junpo supports your cast add. Robert Kerber (talk) 16:38, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
does recognizing the (famous) actress and hearing another character refer to her as the name given support it? 2001:861:8BB5:E4D0:BC09:4280:AB1C:382 (talk) 21:39, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That wouldn't meet WP:VERIFY and MOS:FILMCAST and could be regarded as original research. The film's credits would be accepted as a reliable source. If the person is NOT listed in the credits (uncredited role), you would either need a reliable source such as film literature listing her, or a reliable web source (the Kinema Junpo entry on the film lists her), otherwise your edit could be questioned and even deleted/reverted. In case there weren't any sources to support your claim, you could still open a discussion on the film's talk page, or at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film, and try to find consensus. Common sense still DOES work at times ;-) Best Robert Kerber (talk) 07:54, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
