I'm building up quite a collection

Cool, I've also got some of the Karims. I took them sometime last summer and they've been on my pc waiting to be added to their articles, which I have never been bothered to write because they are so boring, lol. The mother was the worst, Such a weird face. They weren't really in it that much though. The son hardly had any storylines, similar to Lloyd Tavernier. They were just there to be occasionally arrogant.

Pete's voice grates after a while doesnt it? I seem to fastforward all his scenes. I used to like him when I was a kid, how times change. Nejdet Salih is also an awful actor at times. Minor. I've just capped Vince Johnson, too. I got a crappy cap of Sufia, but an alright one of Sohail. Lol, Rod is a bit like 80s Boy George isnt he? I loved Rod, but his look was a bit dated by the time he left, so I can see why he was writen out in 1990. I think on Halloween 1989, Dot was egged by Junior and Melody when they were playing trick or treat. She gave chase and fell over. That is probably why she's limping. Well I saw that halloween ep, a few years back. They were having a party in the vic and Julie Cooper got dressed up in a red lycra catsuit, pretending to be the devil. I'm doing my Msc exams soon, there's several different modules cog therapy, addicton etc. Lots of annoying studies to remember and people's names. I hate exams. I remember being so scared doing my GCSE's, i wrote all the physics equations on my pencil case, lol. I'm sure you'll be fine. If I had of known that the only GCSE's anyone cares about are Maths, Science and English, then I wouldnt have done so much revising. Not that i'm advising you not to try to get them all though, just that it's nothing to worry about if you dont. You just need enough to do Alevels, which is 5 I think. But anyway, you seem like an intelligent guy, so i'm sure you'll ace them all.

Have you had your May ball? ahhh I wish I could have mine again. I hadn't noticed the Tavernier thing. They all pronounce it differently, especially Dot. There's a really random episode in 1992 I think, where Dot keeps following Hattie around everywhere spying on her and giving her a lecture every five minutes. It's really funny. Ah, see, you can't write equations in your pencil case anymore, you have to take in a clear pencil case! And I'm going to fail maths, which will piss my mum off, as she's a maths teacher... eek. But I'm pretty confident with the rest! We have a prom/ball in June, on our sign out day, the 29th. Clear pencilcases! that sucks. There's a way you can blag it though. Some scientific calculators have an option that allows you to type in data on a blank screen. It saves it on its memory and whenever you go into it you can read what you stored on it. I used this method for my psych A Level. No one will suspect a thing, because you are allowed calculators in exams. Other than that I always find mnemonics helpful for remembering facts.

As far as Maths goes, just get you mum to give you loads of past GCSE papers from years gone by. They include basically the same problems every other year, although they may be worded differently. Understanding maths is the hard part, but you dont need to understand something to practice it. Once you learn the methods off by heart, you will just be able to do the problem without understanding the logistics. I did this with simultaneous equations. I struggled for ages trying to work out how to do them because I didn't understand it and it really frustrated me. Then I just learnt the method off by heart, and it didnt matter that I didnt understand it anymore because I got them right anyway (I still dont understand it, lol). So my advice for maths revision is just go over past papers until you know the procedure for each problem. If you dont know how to do something, get your mum to show you the method, learn it off by heart and just forget about understanding it. Gungadin 16:49, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Feel free to move forward with the other changes requested on the FA nom. The general etiquette is to reply after each item, saying either something simple such as "Fixed. ~~~~", or expanding as needed. If you disagree strongly with any item, it's best to either ignore it (not everything suggested on an FA has to be fixed), or to reply directly to the individual's comment. It is acceptable to disa\gree, but for best results, do it only in the most polite and courteous terms, along with careful explanation as to why you disagree. I find it helpful to think about being Japanese, with lots of bowing and humility. :) FA noms are a big deal, as you're probably seeing! Thanks for the tips. I am finding some of the suggestions highly pedantic and I dont like having to suck up to the reviewers, but I'll do my best, :o)

Ive fixed the book refs, but I dont think that was necessary to be honest. We have loads of refs for the same books and all the long inline refs are making editing irritating.

How do you think the lead looks now? Writing that in out of universe is just a long winded way of doing it in my opinion. Instead of saying Pauline we have to say the character etc. As if readers wont realise that the character is fictional.

Anything that's just a formatting tweak, even if it's a pain, let's go ahead and do. Yes it's red-tape, but it's indisputable red-tape, and if a few minutes reformatting a reference makes an FA reviewer happy, it's worth it. As for choice of references, that's a big deal, see WP:NOR#Sources, so if a reference is questioned, I'd say yes, change it. And yes, fansites shouldn't be used as references, unless they're verifiably notable fansites (probably famous enough to have their own Wikipedia articles), and even then they should be used with care and usually as a last resort. The only time I got away with using questionable references was in a very specific case on the Knights Templar article. Trampikey, there was one ref for Arthur from the evening standard that was printed on 26 March 1996, but I cant find it on the news site now. It must have been removed. It was interesting, talking about how Bill Treacher refused to allow EE producers to make Arthur commit suicide in prison, which was what he was originallty meant to do apparently. He wouldnt film it so they had to kill him off another way.

There is this article [1] that talks about how Willy Roper was attacked by irate Arthur fans chanting "Arthur is innocent" and chucking ice creams at him. lol. Shall I use that as a ref? Gungadin 17:45, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with using a non-free source as far as I'm concerned - If there's a equivalent free source, use that instead. I'm happy to take an editors word that the source backs up what it's referencing. I've seen others oppose on the grounds that there's too high a proportion of unavailable sources, but as the article largely uses web sources, I think most of them can be easily checked. Rationales

I recommend looking at the images on other FA articles, and seeing what kind of rationales they used. Generally it's an entire section on the Image page titled "Fair use rationale", and then a paragraph of text or a list of bullet points as to why fair-use is appropriate in that particular case. --El on ka 19:39, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria.
