Fighting Vandals
Hi!
I've just installed an AntiVandal tool, so that I can have a head start on reverting vandals. What do I find... You're still there before me! What are you on so that you are there before everybody else to revert? Speed??? (grin)
Seriously though, keep up the good work! StephenBuxton (talk) 17:41, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Real Account
This is to confirm that the e-mail which was recently sent to you was sent from my real account. Thanks, » AIAN ANDREJI BINLAYO (T/C) 17:39, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- I don't doubt that you sent the e-mail from this account. That's not what I said. Thanks – Gurch 17:40, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- The only accounts which I own are this one and Aian Binlayo, although that latter now serves as a doppelganger account. In either case, they have not been blocked. » AIAN ANDREJI BINLAYO (T/C) 17:45, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- You may wish to disclose this on your user page, as your account's contributions appear suspicious otherwise. Furthermore the statement on your userpage that you began contributing in January 2008 is untrue, as User:Aian Binlayo has contributions from July 2007. Those contributions, too, suggest that even that account is not your first. Am I really meant to believe that you registered an account, created seven userboxes, then did nothing for five months? – Gurch 17:49, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- The statement on my userpage says that I've been a Wikipedia editor since January 2008, not that I began contributing in January 2008. The contributions on the other account that are dated on July 2007 were either (1) Sandbox edits, or (2) userpage edits. Although it is predominantly a matter of opinion, I'd say I have not contributed to the actual Wikipedia content until January 2008, thus the statement on my userpage.
- Yes, I registered an account. Yes, I created seven userboxes. Yes, no activity was performed for five months. I don't quite see why such strong suspicion would be aroused from said scenario. Is it because of the inactivity? If it is, I think it would be rather ignorant to assume that it is the sole possibility, when, in fact, there are plenty. (in my case, it was a matter of losing interest on Wikipedia) » AIAN ANDREJI BINLAYO (T/C) 18:08, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

AN thread
Hi Gurch. Would you have time to contribute at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#The next step? I presume it was you that made this wiki-tech mailing list post at 01:39, about 25 minutes after the Main Page deletion and history merge by East718. What I'm interested in is how you found out about this? Do you know what communications were taking place? If you could shed any light on this, that would be great. Carcharoth (talk) 15:54, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- How did I find out about it? Er... the Main Page was deleted. It's the sort of thing that gets noticed – Gurch 17:13, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

suggestions for Huggle
I just got Huggle today and it is awesome. I've never used a tool that reverted vandalism this fast! :)
However, I have a few suggestions for Huggle:
- more built-in warning templates - the current ones are fairly generic; there are times when more specific templates (like {{test1a}}, {{bv}}, {{test4im}}, or {{comment2}}) would be useful
namespace filtering- the ability to filter edits by users (e.g., show only IP edits)
- the ability to filter edits by risk (e.g., show only large content removals, users editing other editors' user pages, or suspicious insertions of text (see next suggestion))
- a regexp-based filter for detecting edits with common vandal strings (e.g., "!!!" or "fuck you")
- a split-window view for reviewing multiple edits at once
- a real-time list of edits in the queue (like in Vandal Fighter)
- a pause/unpause button
- compatibility with other skins, not just MonoBook
That's it for now. I hope that you'll take these ideas into consideration! --Ixfd64 (talk) 01:19, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, that explains how you've been beating me so many times today, Ixfd64. :D You're another huggler!
- So, I just came here to report what seems to be a glitch. I figure it's also a suggestion, inasmuch as I suggest bugs should be fixed, so it's going in this section.
- Gurch, what do you think happened with this AIV report of a user who hadn't received any warnings? I got a notice about reporting complex abuse regarding that. It seems strange that huggle would report the user with only two edits to go on. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 08:39, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- PS: I should mention, absolutely wonderful tool!!!1!!1!!!oneonesixfivefourseven... (:P) It's bumped my edit count a few thousand already, and I feel a very nice sense of power over vandals when I can revert, warn, and report them all with one button. I hope you keep developing it!
- PPS: Ixfd64, take a look at Wikipedia:Huggle and go to the configuration section. There are options to ignore namespaces via the huggle.css page.
- Thanks. I guess I was too lazy to read all that documentation. :P --Ixfd64 (talk) 23:32, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Huggle Issue
I keep getting this message when trying to log into huggle: "Failed to load page. Check internet connection and availability of Wikipedia." I have no Idea what's wrong. I've used it before, and Obviously wikipedia and my internet are okay, seeing as I'm sending you this message right now. I tried re-installing it, and re-starting my computer, and I still can't get huggle to work. What do I do? Dadude3320 22:29, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've had the same problem before. Try switching to MonoBook if you're using another skin. Huggle doesn't seem to work with other skins right now. --Ixfd64 (talk) 23:04, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Huggle bug
There is a bug that i found on Huggle. If the internet connection has been reset while Huggle is connected to the IRC feed, and i close and restart huggle, it doesn't show back up the recent changes feed. One way to prevent it is to add a function as a alternate nick like h_party2. --Party!Talk to me! 17:15, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've got one too for when you come back (until then, have fun, take a well deserved break, and great job). If a user has been reported to AIV, admins will not get the block interface on user with a test4 warning. Prodego talk 14:20, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Do you actually show up in IRC when you're using the feed for Huggle? Keilana|Parlez ici 17:16, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes. If you enter "/server irc.wikimedia.org" in any IRC client, and then once connected, "/join #en.wikipedia", you can see the list of names in the user list sidebar (or if your IRC client does not have one, by entering "/names #en.wikipedia"). Currently, for example, h_andonic is using the IRC feed. irc.wikimedia.org is unique in that you can't actually send channel messages to the server, only receive them, and so you couldn't chat or anything. Help!
Hi, Gurch. I can see that a lot of rollbackers are using Huggle nowadays, and has gotten me interested in it. I went to my huggle.css subpage, which was empty at the time; I entered "enable:true" in over an hour ago. I have an XP, an account, and I also downloaded the .NET Framework 2.0 thing. So after I entered it in, nothing happened. I feel like I should need more introductory information about using the software, since you're the creator of it.
Another question: When you're logging in, is the username and password for Huggle the same that you enter in on the normal Wikipedia? SchfiftyThree 19:05, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- You need to get the Huggle program, currently in private beta, so you will have to email gurch to request the executable file. huggle.css is only a substitute for an options prompt in the main program. And, since you are logging in to your Wikipedia account, you enter the same information as you would enter logging in to Wikipedia regularly. --FastLizard4 (Talk•Index•Sign) 19:13, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
I accidentally blocked VoABot II by accident while using Huggle!
I just reverted some vandalism on French language and was given the option to block to block the vandal, but I accidentally closed the window. The user vandalized the article again, and I tried to block the vandal before reverting the article. However, VoABot II beat me to the revert and I clicked the "block" option right after that, causing me to accidentally block VoABot II.
Could you please change Huggle so that it warns administrators if they are about to block (or revert) a whitelisted user? Thanks. --Ixfd64 (talk) 00:27, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Why'd you make this into a redirect to a disambig page? Are *any* of those people engineers? He was listed on requested biographies, and that doesn't seem to be a fulfilled request, IMHO.

AfD nomination of Dude
An editor has nominated Dude, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dude and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:00, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Huggle bug (i dont know where else to report it) - AIV Reports
Hi, i have recently experienced a bug where i would revert a vandalism edit for a user and huggle would report it to AIV. Upon checking the user in question, they would not have any warnings on their page, yet huggle thought they needed to be reported. The warning icon on the history was the block one..this has happened to me three times. I was advised by an admin on the proper way to report a user..According to Sephiroth BCR several users have been experiencing bus with huggle and AIV reports. If you look at my contribs, you can see where it has recently happened with User:Abcdefg9965645634345345434. (The user was blocked for violating the user name policy.) When i first noticed it, i tried reloading the config to see if that helped, but i guess it didnt. Another time it happened was when i reverted an edit by User:Weismansucks who had only been warned one time seen here. Also User:Iamjesus666 wasnt even warned one time, the user was just reported. Could it be that Huggle suspects the names a naming violations but is reporting them for vandalism instead of naming violations? Thanks! ✬Dillard421✬ (talk • contribs) 05:51, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
