Salut!

Welcome to Wikipedia - thank you for digging out that information on Orsinium and expanding the article - I've been expanding Elder Scrolls lore articles quite a lot myself recently, with a number of new articles. Since, obviously, the lore of Tamriel and Nirn as a whole was expanded in books and other texts The Elder Scrolls IV it is very likely time Wikipedia became a competant source regards the subject. There are probably dozens of possible article candidates, not least on such subjects as the Nine Divines & the Septim royal line, as well as more comprehensive articles on lore related characters like Barenziah (who has ten books, plus references from others, in TES IV). If you'd like to reply to this, follow this link and simply edit in a topic. I espouse because of a lack of a cogent group of Wikipedians currently addressing the issue of TES lore, and obviously all help is appreciated! -- D-Katana 17:34, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

I noticed your post following NCC17's personal attack against me last night. Just thought I'd give you some background on NCC17's PA violations. At the end of July I attempted to correct a link on the AC/DC page which claimed 1 page to be the "official" website when common search engines indicated another site as "official". I noted that NCC17 had a long and persistent history of rv'ing any changes to this link and had, at times, broached 3RR to maintain his view on what the section should look like. I was not the first user to attempt this. Even regular editors of that article had tried in the past to make the same corrections that I did but, as with me, were quickly rv'd by NCC17. I do not edit war over issues and decided the user had taken ownership of the article and thus stopped. In the days following my edit, a similar series of edits began to pop up from an anon user located in Eastern Canada.(Just for the record my IP(which is static) is 142.179.103.183. This can be confirmed, if you want to check for yourself, by looking at Admin SoothingR's talk page. I purposely posted anon on his talk page to show that my IP, just as my User page states, is in Victoria, British Columbia...approx. 5000 kms from where NCC17's anon is located.) NCC17 began an series of attacks against me, thinking I was the anon, on several pages including Admin talk pages, article talk pages and edit summaries. I had AGF'd it for a while before asking for Admin help to stop his persistant...and completely false...attacks and accusations. So far, he has ignored all warnings. He has even been blocked for his behaviour but this has not stopped his Wikipedia policy violations(of which there have been many). Admin Circeus gave NCC17 the link for a "check user" long ago. I really hoped he would have gone ahead with it but did not bother. He preference is for personal attacks over Wikipedia rules and I continue to be the brunt of it. Last nights PA was just another example of the user's habits. SoothingR had asked to me to inform him if any more personal attacks happened, which I did. On his talk page I noted that you also followed NCC17's tirade with a post of your own which indicated me(albeit subtle) as the link editor. I expressed my opinion to SoothingR that I did not believe it to be any sort of sockpuppetry and that you were a valid editor on Wikipedia who just didn't know the whole edit history behind NCC17. I continue to be baffled by his belief(even with all evidence against it) that I somehow warp back and forth from one coast to the other just to edit war with him??? But my hope is that SoothingR's "final warning" to him will end it all. Sorry for the long post. I just felt you, as a regular/informed Wiki-editor, ought to know all the information so that you wouldn't fall in with the "wrong kind" and end up blacklisted as NCC17 has been. Good luck with your Wikipedia experience. Hope to see you around on other pages. Hopefully in a more positive and contructive form. Good day! Fair Deal 14:10, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Apology accepted

And I will apologise to you for the sheep comment. You must understand my frustration with having to deal with the constant PA's from the "link troll"...as I've come to know him. Still not sure how myself and the eastern anon are from the same "region". Living in the second largest country in the world, I tend to think of my region as simply being Southern BC. Trying to compare us geographically is the same as saying an editor from Florida and an editor from Alaska are next-door neighbours? I tend not to be too strict with anon IP's the way some reg'd users are. Always remember...Wikipedia was built by "unregistered IP's who appear to have a lot of knowledge on Wikipedia guidelines"...to use your own words. For every bad Anon there are several good ones. And, as Admin SoothingR stated, NCC17's anon didn't vandalise the article. He/she simply tried to contribute based on their reading of a Wikipedia policy. And the user history shows the edit was accompanied by a valid edit summary and a talk page explanation. Many IP's, and registered users alike, don't bother with those fine details(although they all should). As I said before, we will cross paths again. And I'm sure it's will be a much more positive meeting. For now...Good day! Fair Deal 02:11, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

AC/DC edits

Hi there, your edits on the various AC/DC-related articles are great, and keep doing them, but it's a bit annoying when edits of style are made where they aren't really necessary. If an article reads well, it's best just to leave it rather than make edits which don't improve the flow of the article. It's safer and less antagonistic to make edits where the grammar is bad or wrong, not just in a style you don't like. I hope I'm not sounding like an a$$hole - I mean, you changed one or two things that I did wrong, and that's great, but I know when my grammar is OK, and it's a bit of a bind to see something changed for change's sake. Also, do we need to wikify years? To see 2004 changed to 2004 seems to me utterly pointless, but is there something I don't know, i.e. is it policy? Cheers, Bretonbanquet 18:30, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your input on my talk page, and your understanding :o) I'm a bit of a pedant myself, as you've probably guessed - I'm sure you understand! Keep up the good work. Bretonbanquet 22:22, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi there, There has been some discussion on Talk:Angus Young regarding his date of birth 1955 or 1959. My understanding is that the correct date is 1955, and that when the band began they deliberately told media & public his DOB was 1959 to accentuate his schoolboy image. By the way, I didn't revert your edit. cheers --Design 09:54, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Which part of the article on Jimi Hendrix did you find that was written in an informal tone? I'd like to correct it. Thanks. Justinmeister 16:14, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Re FLC

Nominations last ten days as written in the FLC blurb. Nominations are rarely extended, unless people are actively working to solve objections. Of course you're invited to renominate the list shortly, though you may or may not want to consider going through Peer Review first. -- Rune.welsh | ταλκ 02:01, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia isn't for Nazi's

"Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to M80. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. ĤĶ51→Łalk 22:52, 15 December 2006 (UTC)"

Who the hell do you think you are coming on here telling people what they can and can not post like some sort of a Nazi? Let me remind you that Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia so why don't you take your nonsense and stick it up your arsss!!!

VANDAILISM? You really have NO idea of what your talking about do you? are you kidding me? You obviously don't know crap about salutes to have any opinion.

I happen to be a senior member on a special underground forum discussing all maters on pyrotechnics especially pertaining to SALUTES so why don't you go buggeroff!

time to go to WP:ANI

You have more than enough to put a report into WP:ANI on the policy-breaking AC/DC editor. Ask admin Yanksox for help. The user seems rv with the edit summary that he is restoring Admin SoothingR's version of the links. Thats a false edit summary which is a blockable offence. I've checked the edit history, SoothingR didn't offer a version of the links. SoothingR locked the page, with the "minimal links" version intact pending a vote.(a vote in which the user got busted for sockpuppetry BTW) Good luck! 142.166.234.78 04:53, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

One week of peace and quiet

A noble and trustworthy Admin blocked the troll for a week. Merry Christmas! 198.164.250.44 20:22, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Van Kriedt article

Wow, this is a new one for me! If it really is Van Kriedt, then this could be tricky. I'm sure I read somewhere that you're not supposed to edit your own article, should you be fortunate enough to have one written about you. Obviously you're going to be biased, and this guy is majorly biased. He does at least have to prove who he is, and maybe we'll take it from there. Might need an admin for it though - I don't fancy getting in a row with a former AC/DC member, even if he was just a minor one! Maybe we should challenge him on the Talk Page to prove who he is first. Bretonbanquet 17:33, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

This is a a straight out WP:COI. However, I'd recommend that the disputed material be very carefully examined for any bad sourcing (see Talk:Judith A. Reisman – especially the last section – to understand what I mean). If the anon and account keep editing separately, I'd recommen blocking one, that's sockpuppetry. I'd point him to our WP:BLP and recommend that he discuss his opposition on the talk page, providing reliable sources if possible. I don't have the time to look at this directly right now, but will do so ASAP. *takes mental note to add this to Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles* Circeus 15:32, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, I read your message on Orane's talk page and I was about to talk to you about that, but then I read your wikibreak message, so I won't botter you :P Anyway, enjoy the break and have happy holidays. No-Bullet (TalkContribs) 23:37, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for stepping in to add concensus on the article language debate. I am Canadian. We actually use both plural and singular within regular conversation without anyone really taking notice of it. American editors are the ones who seem to want to "correct" spelling and grammar without actually knowing about the proper guideline.(WP:ENGVAR). If you want you can step on over to the Iron Maiden article and rv that one as well. Someone ignorant of the Wiki-guideline changed it today as well. Cheers and take care! Hard rock cleanup + 'guitarist' question

Nice work cleaning out the POV favourites lists(although some of them were my POV favourites :) ). Lists like that in any article tend to get bloated and useless. Plus... they exist in other parts of Wiki. I say feel free to POV-List sweep in any articles you come across. One question though about the instrumentation details that were left behind. The guitar paragraph is rather detailed while the bass/drum paragraph is a bit brief. Do you have any good reference material to boost up the detail in that second paragraph? I have volumes of guitar orientated reference books. But not much on any other "key" rock instruments. On the 'guitar' topic. I notice you edit many music related articles. Any chance you are a guitar player? If you are, would you be interested in joining the WikiProject Guitarists? Just wondering...Cheers and take care! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 18:34, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Guitarists

Welcome to the WikiProject Guitarists!! Take the time to browse around all of the projects work pages and feel free to comment on anything you think might require attention(or repair) Cheers and take care! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 11:06, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes, EVH needs work. I've noticed a regular editor attempting to work with it. But it was in such bad shape it could use attention from several sets of eyes. Because of his "stature"(I hate that word) in the Hard rock guitar world....his article is a magnet for "fancruft praise"(or vandalism). All I ever seem to get a chance to do with that article is delete the word 'virtuoso' every now and then. But his article isn't the only one. If you want to read really bad...read the Jack Bruce article. It reads like a grade 6 schoolboy book report. Have fun with the project! Take care! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 20:29, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Eddie Van Halen

Good work on the EVH article. A Couple of notes though - It is common (and properly formal) to refer to people by their surname in this context i.e. : -

  • Clapton is reknowned for his love of the Banana
  • Vai has on several occasions refused to inhale nitrous oxide

Etc - I recognize it confuses matter slightly with someone who has an 'aponymous' band, but nonetheless....

Also, I would say that Eddies Medical History is a subject of great interest to anyone likely to look up his article (Hip + Alcoholism + Cancer), so I'd say it warrants it's own section.

Anyway, between the work of a few decent people the article is getting a better than it once was ;). Mikejstevenson 01:00, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
