Shalom all! Nice to be a part of the Wikpedia community! I am trying to reconnect with relatives that I have not seen in fifteen years, and with the Karaite community in general. Please shoot me an email if you have information that can assist me in this endeavor, or if you know of or are part of my family!

Siddur[edit]

Hello and nice to hear from you.

"I am currently involved in sorting through many ancient ketubot and other legal documentation from a cairo geniza. My current desire is to collect various siddurim used by Karaites from around the world, and compile a single siddur containing excerpts from all of them with commentaries based upon country of origin"

What did you do from it up to now?

"I am currently collectiong various Karaite Siddurim for examination, comparison and will then be composing an article on the differences from the Middle Eastern and European sources, as well as composing a Siddur with commentary which contains all of the prayers"

Did you bay a 1871 Siddur from eBay??? about 330 $?

"It will contain full commentary on our sources for the berakhot, as well as the evolution of prayer and our gradual acceptance of some rabbinical traditions."

What are the sources for the commentary? --Neria 13:56, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"What did you do from it up to now?"

I am not quite certain what you mean by this question, please rephrase.

"Did you buy an 1871 Siddur from eBay??? about $330.00?"

Sorry to dissapoint, I did not. I trade scans with people, and rarely have originals come through my hands. Had I, however, known it to be authentic, I would likely have purchased it.

"What are the sources for the commentary?"

The commentary itself will not be an explanation of the text, but merely an explanation of the country of origin and the difference that it includes. Any textual commentary will come from arabic transcripts, known and published works of Qirqisani, explanation of text from sefer Diqduq BaTorah, Hacham Firkovitch, or will be from Al-Qumsi's writings. All is easily accessable to all, but not compiled into a single source. None of the commentary will be my own.

Templates and userbox[edit]

You may have noticed that the templates Template:User WikiProject Karaites and Template:Karaite Jewish member have been deleted. It would be a good idea to remove them from you userpage. On the other hand I would like to bring to your attention the Karaite userbox: {{User:L'Aquatique/Userboxes/karaite}} Adding this userbox will automatically add you to Category:Wikipedian Karaites, so you can remove that category from your userpage.
