Deletion of Harold Brighouse[edit]

The reason the article on Mr Brighouse was deleted is that it had been copied from an external site. You're welcome to create a fresh article on him, though. DS 12:10, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Harold Brighouse[edit]

Hi. I have been along today and expanded the article slightly, using one very comprehensive biographical reference which allows the working out of his exact birthdate from a supplied date of death (25 July 1882 - 26 July 1958). There is a great potential for further expansion from this reference, only I don't have time to carry it out at the moment. You may like to revisit the article and check out the reference yourself.

By the way, I cannot get the Millennium Library external link to respond (server timeout at the site). I wonder if it is still "live"? Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 00:00, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Helpme request[edit]

Aid in the translation from Russian into English is urgently necessary. Help me if you please. I made very important corrections in the article about the Chernobyl Disaster (subsection "Experiment and explosion"), but them they do not assume because of my poor English. I beg for help to bring my English into correspondence with the standards of Wikipedia. Now the correcting, speaking about, is arranged here. The Russian text of correcting, if it is necessary is temporarily located on my user page. The text, isolated with italics, initially existed, before my interference and remained without any changes. This is my own translating from English to Russian.VicDim (talk) 21:03, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have made the obvious edits for basic language (grammar, usage, punctuation) but not entirely to the technical terminology. Not sure of the correct translation of "выбег" in this context. Normally it means "coasting" i.e. running after the motor has been shut off, which could mean "running down". But there is a technical term "run-out" which has a different meaning.

Thank you very much, you greatly helped me. I replaced “run-out” by the “run down”, here you are also right. I hope it will be possible to apply once more to you. There are necessary other correctings in another sectionion of this same article and in some articles about the physics of nuclear reactors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VicDim (talkcontribs) 14:46, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help me once again[edit]

Sorry, but I need some help in translation from English into Russian once again. I made an additional very important correcting in the article Chernobyl disaster, but I fear, that my poor English will cause its rejection again. My English text is located now in the sandbox, and Russian, if it is necessary, here. Help me, if you please, I greatly beg it. VicDim (talk) 06:30, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the response. There will be continuation, I hope. VicDim (talk) 08:53, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again for your trouble on the editing of my text, I wait with the hope for the end of this work. There was a grammatical error in the last paragraph of my Russian text that you have edited: “ни” instead of “не”. I don’t know it does influence the translation, but just in case I report about this. VicDim (talk) 20:50, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have completed the editing and correction of the text in the Sandbox to ensure good English; I will give it a good read-through and may make additional minor changes. As this is obviously an important topic, it is essential that the "good English" is also *completely accurate*. Please VicDim read it through carefully, checking especially the technical terms and the formal terms such as "регламент эксплуатации". I noticed that there are several terms such as "it is alleged", "according to this point of view" which Wikipedia disapproves of (passive should be active, sources should be named).

Haerenia, thank you very much. You have achieved great feat. I will check the text carefully and put it in the article when it will be completely OK. VicDim (talk) 22:23, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, but are you sure that the „real role of the reactor ORM, as post-accident studies showed in total contradiction, is reflected in the technological regulations and in the design of the RBMK-1000 reactor” is a correct translation of “действительная роль ОЗР реактора, как показали послеаварийные исследования, крайне противоречиво отражается в технологическом регламенте и в проекте реактора РБМК-1000”?
As to me, I would read this translation as “действительная роль ОЗР реактора, как показали крайне противоречивые послеаварийные исследования, отражена в технологическом регламенте и в проекте реактора РБМК-1000”. VicDim (talk) 12:41, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you're right. I've made a change.

Haerenia, I have to you the last request. I unsuccessfully constructed one else phrase in Russian and apparently therefore the translation did not reflect its sense accurately. Look please my correction in the Russian and English text.
Thank you for advance. VicDim (talk) 00:40, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I though that you might want to weigh in on this AfD for Mary Ellen Childs, since you are an editor for this article. Scot Johnston (talk) 02:26, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
