Conflict of interest in Wikipedia[edit]

Hi Hannah. I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia. Your edits to date are all about Phil Waldrep - I am guessing from your username that you intended to let everybody know that you work for Phil Waldrep Ministries.

Is that true? If so, we need to work with you, because you what we call a "conflict of interest" (COI) per the notices above.

Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing COI is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).

Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. So please do let me know if you work for him or his ministry. You can reply here, just below - I am watching this page. Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 04:28, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am new to Wikipedia, and yes- I do work for Phil Waldrep Ministries as a graphic designer. I am trying to get Phil's wikipedia page completed. However, I am new to this site and a little confused as to why so much of my info is being deleted.
Thanks, Hannah — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hannah philwaldrep (talkcontribs) 19:03, 3 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hannah, please take a moment to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for your answer. Magnolia677 (talk) 00:28, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Hannah, I didn't notice your reply, sorry. Wikipedia has a bunch of policies that govern content (explained in the links in the Welcome section I posted at the top of this page). The content you added violated those policies, which is why it was deleted. More importantly, if you read WP:COI you will see that you should not have directly created this article. I am not sure if you have an interest in WP beyond promoting your employer. If you do, please let me know and i can help you more. If all you want is a page about Waldrep, please let me know that too and I can explain more about what is going on. Sorry again for missing your reply.
