Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Happyjoshua, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Thank you. I do not have any external relationships with the edits I have written about on Wikipedia, but I do have knowledge about the places I have written about by discussions with unrelated individuals. Happyjoshua (talk) 03:57, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of Josh Scheidler

[edit]

Josh Scheidler, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Josh Scheidler and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Josh Scheidler during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Ominateu (talk) 19:37, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What to do when you need to redact a statement

[edit]

Hey @Happyjoshua. Just for future reference, when you want to take back something you've commented, it is generally recommended not to delete it. Instead, simply strikethrough your comment, like this for example. WP:REDACT has guidance on how you might do this.

Cheers, and I hope this helps, Slamforeman (talk) 23:58, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, as I am new to wikipedia I didn't know this. Cheers. Happyjoshua (talk) 00:15, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Notable people who have edited Wikipedia). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 15:55, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I actually didn't create anything about myself. I am a separate identity and never have actually spoken to Josh Scheidler in person, thank you. Happyjoshua (talk) 04:42, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Happyjoshua. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. microbiologyMarcus [petri dish·growths] 15:55, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I do not have any external relationships with the edits I have written about on Wikipedia, but I do have knowledge about the places I have written about by discussions with unrelated individuals. I will continue to do the things you said. Happyjoshua (talk) 03:56, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
