Please respect copyright

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Tony Yayo article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

Feel free to re-submit a new version of the article. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Streetsweepers_Presents_Papoose-The_4th_Quarter_Assasin_-_Holiday_Hitman.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. Image Rationales

Someone needs to state why each non-free image being hosted by the English Wikipedia meets our non-free content criteria. This policy has been in place for more than a year, although it has not been well enforced.

Some reading for you to help understand what is going on with fair use images:

If, after reading the above, you still have questions about:

  • What is missing from your images
  • How to add the needed rationale to your images
  • How to request undeletion of the deleted images by providing a rationale to the deleting administrator
  • Where/how fair use images can be used under existing policy
  • Whether my actions are backed by community consensus

Please don't hesitate to ask on my talk page, or whichever of the above you feel most comfortable with.

I apologize that these notices came as such a shock to you, and that nobody stepped up to provide rationales for the images that have been deleted, although it does appear that you had a conversation about this same issue on another of your images in March. ~ BigrTex 16:57, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Copyright status of Image:Bahar Soomekh-2006 Academy Awards.jpg

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Image:Bahar Soomekh-2006 Academy Awards.jpg. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image:Bahar_Soomekh-2006_Academy_Awards.jpg in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
