Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 15:13, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hariya. An IP address voted on the above linked FP candidate page and signed with your username. If this was you, please confirm (I can strike the IP address from the page history if you desire). Jujutacular talk 21:19, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please upload files to Wikimedia Commons

[edit]

Thanks for the excellent pictures that you have uploaded to Wikipedia. However, the best place to upload these pictures is at Wikimedia Commons. This will allow all of the many Wikimedia projects (such Wikipedias written in languages other than English) to use your pictures. You can upload files to Wikimedia Commons at this page. I have already transfered all of your previous uploads to Wikimedia Commons, and I'd be grateful if you could upload all your files there in future. Thanks, NotFromUtrecht (talk) 19:29, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad that information is helpful. You might like to enable Unified login on your account, to link your accounts on the English Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and any other wikis that you choose to edit. NotFromUtrecht (talk) 19:42, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You can request to change your username on the English Wikipedia here. Unfortunately you have to make a separate request to change your name on each Wikimedia project that you've edited. NotFromUtrecht (talk) 19:55, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Help with Photography

[edit]

Lenses will get you more for your money initially. For wildlife you probably want as much focal length as you can afford. For scenery the 18-55mm should do a decent job. A better camera won't directly improve image quality that much. I noticed that the lizard was a bit underexposed too. Continuing to submit FPC will help your technique, so keep it up. • I haven't taken any pictures in Trinidad, did you mean Thailand? I usually use evaluative metering, but keep an eye on the exposure and adjust the exposure compensation. Regarding exposure, I'd shoot raw and expose to the right as much you can whilst avoiding blown highlights. This method minimizes image noise etc. If you have huge contrast then you probably might want to reconsider your lighting. Try and approach subjects with the sun at your back, fill flash can also be helpful. Cloudy days are a little easier in terms of contrast, but there is greater potential for motion blur. For photo editing you should be able to crop, sharpen, adjust curves and other simple stuff. Mixing two exposures with a gradient blend is a very useful technique for landscapes (and looks a lot better than HDR in my view). Once you understand aperture and shutter speed then I wouldn't use manual except in specific circumstances. By the time you muck around and get the exposure right your subject could have gone or you might have missed the best shot. JJ Harrison (talk) 23:39, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, that is fine. You can use the Wikipedia email button and link the images with http://www.imageshack.us/ or http://imgur.com/, if you haven't uploaded them already. JJ Harrison (talk) 07:38, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Wikify and the future of wikification

[edit]

Hi! There is an ongoing proposal at the project talkpage concerning the future of wikification, including possible deprecation of the {{wikify}} template which is being discussed at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2012 August 10. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

WikiProject Wikify: Current Backlog Reduction Plan

[edit]

Hey, I noticed you marked yourself as a member of WikiProject Wikify and you are currently listed as active. I was wondering if you would be able to assist with our current backlog reduction plan. While traditional drives are more structured month-long sprints by WikiProject Wikify members, there is currently lacking activity within the project and in order to significantly reduce the incredible backlog, members are encouraged to review all articles marked with the Underlinked Template Message - {{underlinked}} - a list of which can be found here - to analyze the worthiness of the template message on the given article. Articles that have nothing to link or are have had wikilinks sufficiently added should have the template removed to clear the backlog and make it easier for editors to find articles in genuine need of wikification. This can be done by any editor; however, all editors should consider joining if they haven't done so already. Thank you!
