Your talk page archives are a bit messed up

This is just FYI. The archives of your talk page appear to have been corrupted on at least two other occasions than the 2009 incident which you mention at the top of your page. You can find a complete list of the pages here. The problems include, but are not limited to, the pages:

The error is that your ClueBot II configuration was in a section of your page which was archived. It then was archived over and over into a deeper and deeper page. You can find your ClueBot III configuration on the long page I linked above. You can retrieve it from there. Just make sure to put it near the top of your page so it is not in a section that gets archived. I am willing to help fix things, but on a User talk page I don't want to do that sort of thing without your permission.Makyen (talk) 16:19, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

All removals by ClueBot III into deeper files have been reverted. The January 2009 edit that was mentioned at the top of the page has been corrected with no lost of data. Specific issues corrected are:

2013/Apr: Cluebot III removed sections. All restored.

2010/Jan: Cluebot III removed sections. All restored.

2009/Aug: Cluebot III removed sections in multiple different edits separated over multiple days. All restored.

2009/Jan: Cluebot III removed sections in multiple different edits. One . All restored.

2008/Nov: Cluebot III added 26 extra copies of section "Re: Formatting a list with images". All extras removed.

There is one set of tasks that still needs to be done: Have all of the extra erroneous pages deleted. The easiest way to do this is through the speedy deletion process. It is easy. I can either do it for you, or I can tell you how to do it (some text I can write for you to cut&pate to the top of a list of pages I can link here).

Given that these are in your User talk space, if you want me to do it I would feel more comfortable if you gave me an explicit request/permission to have the pages removed via the speedy deletion process. Unless I have miscounted, there are 15 pages to be deleted. If you want me to do it, please put something here to the effect of: "Yes, please delete those erroneous talk pages." Alternately, I will write the text that you can cut&paste. In addition, if you are doing it, I will make a list here of links to the pages.

Age of sections to archive: For ClueBot III (CB3) configurations, the age is in hours. The header now has a comment with some typical ages, you can select what you desire. It is good practice to also change it in the {{archive box}} template. Age in the archive box is by default in days, but can be whatever you desire (see the documentation).

The reason that I suggested you wait to change it to what you desire is that if you want to put out the effort you can manually cause CB3 to archive the sections in correct monthly chunks and put them into the correct archive page (It may be easier for you to cut&paste them form 2013/December). If you want this, it will be some work and probably take a few/several days (waiting for CB3 to run multiple times) for you to accomplish it. You would need to adjust the age such that the (current day - age) is close to the end of the month you desire to fill. You would need to make this change multiple times (at least once for each month). CB3 might run multiple times on you page per day, it might be a couple/few days between runs (it is indeterminate).

(Option B, probably better): Set up the One Click Archiver (OCA) including putting a {{Archive basics}} template up in the header area. Without the {{Archive basics}} template and using CB3, OCA does not automatically find the appropriate archive page and fails w/o doing anything bad. The first {{Archive basics}} template (cut&paste) would look like (Note: untested):

You would then go through your threads and click on the (new with OCA) archive link for those sections you want in that month. Then change the month in the {{Archive basics}} template and go through the threads again. You would do the process once for each month. Threads are generally in increasing date order, making it easier. It probably wouldn't take all that long.

The choice is up to you. The easy way is to just adjust the CB3 age once now and accept having all the threads in one month (213/December). It is up to you.

Requesting speedy deletion of the erroneous files: If I were you, I would put the following text at the top of each page:

I tend to be a bit long-winded. So much detail is probably not needed, but covers all the issues I am aware they would raise. The list of files is:

As I am sure you can see, I did miscount. Just copy the above text. Edit each page putting the text on the top and save.

The configurations of {{Archive basics}} and {{User:Equazcion/OneClickArchiver}} did not work. They failed in a way that implied that it would not work for YYYY/Month archives (actually anything where the archive page did not end with a number). I have been planning on working on his code to make it much more versatile (i.e. understand the common Mizsabot and Cluebot III configs). While that is not going to happen in the near future, I expect that hacking it to hard code each page destination would work. It would mean that I would semi-automatically archive the current backlog for you. That certainly is not going to happen immediately. At a bare minimum, I need to go to sleep as I have been up for 36 hours, or so. Makyen (talk) 08:12, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

I ~~strongly~~ recommend that you do not start CB3 up yet. It has a ~~bug~~ (mis?)feature where archives such as yours where there is a backlog that results in the archives going in seriously wrong locations. I have not yet reported the bug —I will do so shortly—, but the notice I placed on Help:Archiving a talk page says ""ClueBot III (CB3) has a bug which is resulting in archives being place in significantly inaccurate archives. For example, on at least three archives which were started in December 2013 CB3 put all threads in 2013/September. This was in spite of the threads having dates from 2006 through 2012.""

After a bit more looking, it appears that this is a feature, not a bug. This is the explanation of it I have placed instead of the notice I mentioned above:"Note:Each time ClueBot III runs it places threads in single archive which is the YYYY/Month of (NOW - age). If you are starting archiving with a backlog this will result in a single file with all of your old threads older than age. ClueBot III does not appear to run every single day. Thus, even once archiving has been running for a while, some threads may end up in a archive that is one month later than when they last were edited."

I have looked at some of the Miszabot/lowercase sigmabot III (lcSB3) contribution history . In those I have clearly seen lcSB3 separate archives into their respective archive by the date of the last signature. Here is an example of lcSB3 splitting an archive task of 185 threads into 54 YYYY/Month based archives of User talk:Slambo. The drawback of lcSB3 is that, at the moment, it is not running as regularly as CB3. However, CB3 also has days that it will not run. lcSB3 does appear to be running more often with several thousand edits this month. You may have to wait a few days for lcSB3 to run on your page, but your archives will be placed in their correct YYYY/Month page by last edit date. Given that you are filling in an already existing monthly archive, I would suggest using lcSB3 instead of CB3. I will put a config in the header of this page that implements the 90 days you mentioned on my talk page.Makyen (talk) 00:39, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

OK...I think that's pretty much all I can do. I can't find his dates. I also added a non-valid reference for his two marriages and all his children, because I find it useful, but I think this could be moved to his talkpage on a real article if we can't find a better citation. Btw. Towards the pier after the Mercure hotel, and before the Holiday Inn, there is a "Cavendish Place." I wonder if it's named after the "William Cavendish and his wife Lady Emilia Augusta" mentioned in the Adelaide Crescent article?Zigzig20s (talk) 19:46, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

ALSO--this may be of interest to you (and his father and grandfather and two sons, who should have a page too), and his residence Ockenden House is listed, under Ockenden Manor on the Wikipedia page, but on the website British Listed Buildings it is called Ockenden House. Definitely worth an article I think. Also High Beeches is now a famous garden and should probably have its own page and Whittlebury Hall may be listed and thus could have its own page (now a hotel apparently). See this and I think the current baron's brother was a high sheriff for West Sussex. This is getting overwhelming though--we can take our time to do all that. Hi. Not relevant to Brighton, but perhaps you can help. I have a problem with François de Ripert-Monclar's talkpage, which goes directly to Jean-Pierre-François de Ripert-Monclar's talkpage. But actually it looks like it deleted Jean-Pierre-François de Ripert-Monclar's page, which is catastrophic! I had created Jean-Pierre-François de Ripert-Monclar's page under François de Ripert-Monclar as that's the name used on the French wikipedia page, only to realise this was wrong as the full name is the ancestor and the shorter name is the descendant, both prominent people. Any idea what I can do? Note (after preview of this message): it didn't delete Jean-Pierre-François de Ripert-Monclar, which can be found by googling it, but it won't let me find it when I look it up from the wikipedia page.
