File:En-uk-Slough.ogg

Hi! I was wandering through wiktionary and ran across File:En-uk-Slough.ogg. It was supposed to be the pronunciation of Slough (the town), but all I hear when I play it is a microsecond of sound that does not sound at all like a human voice. Is it my software, or has the file gotten corrupted? Thanks. — Gorthian (talk) 07:26, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi Gorthian – I suspect it may have become corrupted. I'll check when I get home from work tonight. I still have the original file on my computer, so I can re-upload if necessary. Cheers, Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 08:53, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
I've just tested and get same effect with both the current version and the original upload—it comes out as "zup" rather than "slough". (That said, from the perspective of utility to readers IMO it would be more helpful just to put "rhymes with cow, not cough".) ‑ Iridescent 09:00, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
Interesting. When I play it in my browser, it sounds as I described. But when I open the file in an app, I can hear the whole thing. The micro-sound that plays in the browser is the first bit of it—just a tiny piece of ambient sound. Thanks for looking into it. — Gorthian (talk) 18:05, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
