Hi, the page you created at Hbmallin:Example/Draft of article is now located at User:Hbmallin/Example/Draft of article, which is where I thought you wanted the article in the first place. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me :) - Kingpin13 (talk) 17:04, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}}It looks like someone deleted a photo I uploaded to wikicommons. It was a pic of the Brammo Enertia motorcycle - a studio shot from Brammo's website. I'm a newbie, so I want to know how to go about getting that picture on this article, which I hope to complete and publish soon. Thanks for any help and guidance you can provide. Hbmallin (talk) 14:57, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, was it a picture that you took yourself? If not, where did you get it? Can you give me a link to where the picture used to be on Commons?--Gordonrox24 | Talk 17:10, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find the file, except for a mention of it on this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:BrammoEnertiaRight_side_700px.jpg&action=edit&redlink=1 No, I didn't take the picture myself. I got it from the website of the company I'm writing the article about: www.brammo.com I know they have no objection to me using it. Thanks for your help.Hbmallin (talk) 18:45, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I found the image page on Commons here. The image you uploaded was deleted as a copyright violation. I also checked the website you listed above and their copyright page says that everything on the site is under copyright. So unless they release the image under a free license or you get permission to use it the image can't be used on Wikipedia. Frehley 19:07, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also take note that if it is the logo of the company it can be uploaded directly to Wikipedia(Not through Commons) as a Non-Free promotional/Logo.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 22:06, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you both! I will get the necessary documentation and try again. It's a learning curve. Hbmallin (talk) 03:27, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Advice -- COI

[edit]

Over on Commons[1] you appear to have indicated that you may have a COI, I recommend that you take note of our policy on Conflict of Interest inparticular Editors with COIs are strongly encouraged to declare their interests, both on their user pages and on the talk page of any article they edit, particularly if those edits may be contested. Most Wikipedians will appreciate your honesty. Editors who disguise their COIs are often exposed, creating a perception that they, and perhaps their employer, are trying to distort Wikipedia.

Reading the current draft article I see nothing that asserts WP:NOTABILITY and have concerns that the article is sourced from the company(see primary sources) and what appear to be blogs and service directories neither of which are considered reliable. I suggest that you use alternative sources like test drives by major motoring/motorcycle magazines. Gnangarra 10:40, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for that advice, garra. I will put a COI declaration where you suggest. I will also try my best to increase the notability as available.Hbmallin (talk) 13:00, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page titles

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Brammo Motorsports a different title by redirecting it to Brammo and inserting different content at the new title. This approach to renaming a page is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Hi Russ. Thanks for the guidance. Should I go back and try to do it the right way, or what? I'm not sure what to do at this point. Hbmallin (talk) 17:45, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's all taken care of. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 18:17, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Hbmallin (talk) 18:20, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To move, consolidate or what?

[edit]

{{helpme}} I was looking at Brammo Enertia and noticed that it (1) contained some outdated information, (2) included some outdated references (and that more current references were more noteworthy), (3) could use a photo, and (4) that it could really just use a total re-write. So I re-wrote it. Currently, my rewrite is here: User:Hbmallin/Example/Draft of article2 I want to go about this the proper way, to preserve the page history. It doesn't seem like it's actually a "move" because the current page exists. (see above, where I did a copy and paste in a situation where I should not have). If this is something I can do, please help me do it, but please don't do it for me. I really want to learn. --Hbmallin (talk) 17:28, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Your 'new' article looks like a great improvement. Because you have written it all yourself, it is fine to simply be bold, and copy it over, paste into the existing, and save. That way, the old version will be preserved in the history, and indeed if someone objects they can 'undo', and then you can discuss on the talk page. You might like to mention WP:BRD in the edit summary.
You're quite right that a delete/move would not be appropriate, as it would lose the history of previous edits - but a copypaste of something by just one user - yourself - is not a problem. For more help, you can either;
Best wishes,  Chzz  ►  17:42, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Chzz. I went ahead and did the copypaste, as you suggested. I will wait and see how it goes over. Hbmallin (talk) 18:42, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Motorcycling

[edit]

Though a little late, welcome to the Motorcycling WikiProject. Hopefully you have a good time, start many new articles and can contribute lots to the existing ones. If you want some suggestions of work to be done, check out the To do list. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 19:24, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Glad to be here and hope to contribute for a long time. Hbmallin (talk) 21:23, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Brammo in the news

[edit]

Glad to see they are still getting press. Brammo has come up on email lists recently, especially because of an author friend we know that reviewed it in Portland a long while back. tedder (talk) 20:44, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading info from press releases

[edit]

Please stop adding misleading information to Wikipedia articles as you did to Brammo Enertia. You stated that the Enertia is a police vehicle and that "police are using the Brammo Enertia." The press release you cited only says it is in trial use. It is not a police vehicle. --Dbratland (talk) 15:37, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Brammo logo.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Brammo logo.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. October 2012

[edit]

Hello, I'm Dennis Bratland. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Brammo seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.
