Help me![edit]

Please help me with... formatting references properly. I want to name the references, instead of having clunky links. Can't figure that out. Thanks! ````

WP:REFB (in particular Section 3.1) will do a lot better job of explaining than I can (and saves me the typing) but I'll give you the brief rundown. Most references should use a citation template such as {{cite web}} or {{cite book}}. The refToolbar (see REFB) will allow you to insert the information and properly format everything, but otherwise just check out the template pages themselves to see how to manually add them.
If you want to use a reference multiple times, you need to "name" it. This is done by adding a "name" parameter to the <ref>...</ref> tags. For example, if I had a source from the New York Times, I might name the ref <ref group="NYTimes">...</ref>. This allows me, the next time I use that reference, to insert <ref group="NYTimes" /> into the text by itself (note the / before the >).
When naming references it's always best to be short yet specific, as very long ref names will clutter up the text. Hope this helps! If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 14:26, 25 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@REFB: Thanks very much for this, and as well for fixing my references. Greatly appreciated. Will check the links you mentioned. Heartoftheworld88 (talk) 15:06, 25 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help replacing a photograph[edit]

Hello all,

Can someone help please? I have just taken the trouble to get permission and I've uploaded a GREAT photo, here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Section_of_the_Oran_Mor_ceiling_mural_by_Alasdair_Gray.jpg#filelinks

It's explained in the licensing information: I have the consent of the photographer to use this image to replace a poor quality one in the Alasdair Gray article. The problem is, I can't figure out how to do that. Can someone help me please? Thanks!
