Welcome to Wikipedia and a note on promotional editing
[edit]Hi Heather. Welcome to Wikipedia.
You have been adding some inappropriate external links to a couple of articles - the Gates Foundation's educational initiatives are not really appropriate for the Education and Secondary Education articles. Links here should be about the subject's in general. Not one organization's particular projects in relation to the subjects. I assume you are the Heather Timm who is a web producer at the Foundation so I'd like to point you to a couple of our guidelines and policies that might be useful - First our external links guideline in particular the piece asking users not to add links to their own sites directly to articles. Also our more general guideline on editing with a conflict of interest. There are some ways in which we really welcome input - for instance updating the web page on the Gates Foundation article was great. But there are others where we need to take greater care to maintain some editorial integrity - since as a neutral point of view is important to our basic philosophy on article content.
On a less specific level you can find good information on editing Wikipedia at our welcome page and core policies. I hope this is of some help. If you have any questions please feel free to leave me a message at the bottom of my talk page. -- SiobhanHansa 19:44, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Bill Gates Sr. during visit to India.JPG
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Bill Gates Sr. during visit to India.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Denniss (talk) 00:55, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Image permission problem with Image:Bill Gates Sr. during visit to India.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Bill Gates Sr. during visit to India.JPG. I noticed that that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Denniss (talk) 00:55, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

March 2009
[edit] This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you add an inappropriate image to a page, you will be blocked from editing. — Dædαlus Contribs 06:33, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
- This was too harsh, I admit this, and I am sorry.— Dædαlus Contribs 00:13, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- Seems a little harsh for just uploading a few images and forgetting to license them, no? –xeno (talk) 20:20, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, quite harsh. For a moment consider her status as the only Uploader on Wikipedia, she probably does know what she's doing. And if she doesn't, assume good faith and help her out, don't just block her... (Okay, I know that being an uploader is no better then being autoconfirmed, but it sounds cooler!) NowCommons: File:William-H-Gates-Senior-New-Delhi-Hi-Res.jpg
[edit]File:William-H-Gates-Senior-New-Delhi-Hi-Res.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:William-H-Gates-Senior-New-Delhi-Hi-Res.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:William-H-Gates-Senior-New-Delhi-Hi-Res.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 00:05, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Your Uploader permission
[edit]I have removed this permission, as I don't think you need it any more. If and when you come back you should be able to upload items with no problems, you should be autoconfirmed by now. (You were the only user with the permission, as it happens, at this wiki, and it's not very widely used) Please advise of any questions or concerns. ++Lar: t/c 22:23, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
