The article Kyls Burtland has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Insufficiently notable for an article. Maybe in a few years time if all goes well?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. For Discussion[edit]

Hi there,
I have removed your phone and email which you posted above. That is a very bad idea as anybody can see this page. You want to keep that stuff secret if you don't want random people bothering you or trying to steal your identity. If people want to send you an email they can use the link on your userpage which will let them send an email without knowing your address. They will only know your address if you choose to reply by email. The details are still in the page history. If that worries you then please ask an admin to expunge it. It certainly wouldn't be the first time somebody has done this so don't worry.
Now to answer some questions:
  • Now that the deletion discussion exists there is time for people to discuss it. This includes you. You can make a comment below mine, if you want to, here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kyls Burtland. I'll also add a note saying that people can look here.
  • I think that you have been unlucky. You have tried to copy something which you hoped, as it already existed, was a good template. Unfortunately it wasn't. The Caitlin Yeo article has been edited by Yeo herself, which may have made you think it was OK for you to do the same when writing about yourself. Unfortunately this is the exact opposite of the situation. This just flags the article about Yeo up to me as being potentially problematic. I see that it is already tagged for Conflict Of Interest problems.
OK. So what are the issues here? We have been through this many times before so there is a well written guide explaining it all: Wikipedia:Autobiography. That links off to other relevant policies including the one about which people are notable enough to have an article. I think this the main thing you need to read to get an understanding of the problem.
The process for discussing the deletion of the article is explained here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. In short, there will be a few days in which anybody can have their say and then an uninvolved admin (I am not an admin and even if I was I would not be allowed to make the decision as I am involved in the discussion) will decide what to do based on the merits of the discussion (not just the number of people on each side). So, I hope you can see that this is a fair process which gives both sides a fair chance to make their case.
I hope this helps make everything make sense.
I think you have been a bit unlucky here in choosing a bad example to follow but please don't worry. It is far from being the first or the last time this sort of thing has happened here. Even if the article gets deleted you can still edit other articles on Wikipedia. --DanielRigal (talk) 13:30, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

REPLY[edit]

Hey Daniel, Thanks so much for taking the time to explain it to me. I really didn't understand the Conflict of Interest problem, nor that we are not supposed to write our own entries, so I was really making a lot of wrong assumptions about Wikipedia, I was thinking of it more as a 'factual' issue than an authorship/Conflict of interest one. - By the way it wasn't just Caitlin Yeo's that I gaged off, but Samantha Fonti and Michael Lira, and several other Australian composer of my generation and ilk. OK, I am going to remove my previous email to you, as now I understand how things work, I can see it is not longer an argument! I will try to get my Songwriter of the Year citations from the ASA, but I do not expect to avoid deletion, as the real issue it seems is around writing one's own article! Thanks for your help, and Happy Easter. Kyls

Kyls Burtland kept[edit]

The Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kyls Burtland process is finally over, and the decision was to keep the article. I have used Reflinks to fix some of its references but some remains as bare urls, most of these are from IMDB.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:37, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
