I notice that it is the same as information on the University's website. It would be a good idea to re-write the article in your own words, otherwise it may be deleted very soon because of infringement of copyright.

Department of Physics and Astronomy[edit]

Dear Shirt58

It is true that some text on the wiki article on ”Department of Physics and Astronomy” has been taken from the Departments official home page. Unfortunately there is a problem. WP:IANAL, but this page on your University's website says that all the content of http://www.au.dk/ is under copyright. I am a lawyer, but on Wikipedia WP:IANAL applies, and as a volunteer editor I must follow Wikipedia's policies on copyright violations. If you want to release the text of the department's website into a domain where it can be freely quoted and re-used, well there are a whole lot of problems that I cam only mention as a volunteer editor. To start, but WP:IANAL, the governing body of your University (WP:IANAL) may have to be alerted that you wish to release any of its content from copyright. I can't help you with this: WP:IANAL.

Conflict of interest[edit]

At the risk of harassing a new user with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware of the Wikipedia policies with respect to users with a conflict of interest (WP:COI), if you are not already. This is just meant as a friendly notice to make you aware of the policy, since you obviously have a conflict of interest. COI ???[edit]

Dear TR and Shirt58,

The reason I have written something about our Department on Wikipedia is that I happened to find an entry there which was entirely inadequate, being just a copy/paste of a chapter of an article on the Departments history.

I think that what I have written is very sober, with just a few facts about the Department, but I am of cource willing to follow your advice for amendments.

Note that I wasn't implying that what you have written is not neutral (despite some minor issues of tone this does not seem to be the most pressing issue. I was just making sure you were aware of the potential uses of editting a wikipedia article on a subject, you have a close (professional) relationship.
(Just an aside, lying does not really help your case. You created the article about the department on wikipedia. So you did not find any entry before you started editting.)
A much more pressing issue is the notability of the subject as I have noted on the article talk page. I see no reason why this particular physics department is any more notable than most other physics departments. The general rule for inclusion on wikipedia is that the subject has had adequate coverage in reliable secondary or tertiary sources. In the case of your department, this means that there must be reliable secondary sources (i.e. unrelated to your department) that discuss your department (not its members or projects) at some length. Simple mention in some news report is not enough in this respect. If no evidence of notability is produced, the article will be nominated for deletion, making any additional work done on it pointless.TR 12:12, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

COI again[edit]

Dear Timothy Rias,

It is actually true that I found an inadequate entry on our institute on wikipedia. However, it was on the Danish Wikipedia. Since I had now written a better entry on the Danish wikipedia, I made it into English, and posted it on the English wikipedia.

Being a scientist, I strongly recent being called a lyer. Please look op the Danish article and then give me an apology! Next time you unjustly call someone a lyer, please be assured that it will not help wikipedia at all.
