Image copyright problem with Image:MayThurnerSyndrome.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MayThurnerSyndrome.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:56, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Gaines steve.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gaines steve.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Strangerer (Talk) 20:13, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Garywooddusk.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Garywooddusk.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:28, 5 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 23:28, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BARNSTAR![edit]

The Original Barnstar
For developing the Wikipedia:YourMyspaceIsNotAReference, aka WP:YMINAR, as a shortcut for explaining to all those garage bands that MySpace is not a valid reference. It's gargantuan, it's incredible, it's more than the mind can possibly fathom! Realkyhick 07:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We need a "You're a Blessin' Barnstar," don't we?

Speedy tag[edit]

I thank you for your work in tagging articles for speedy deletion and hope that you will in future research something before tagging an article and will give an editor chance to improve an article. A quick Google search would have shown notability and waiting for five minutes would allow an editor to improve the article. If I were new to this place I might feel a little demotivated about having such a tag placed on my article so quickly. Anyway, removing a speedy deletion tag is not inappropriate when you know fulwell that the article complies to Wikipedia policy - {hangon} is just a process that helps in some cases and isn't mandatory. violet/riga (t) 23:22, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Before this escalates any further I'd like to try and defuse this. While WP:SPEEDY does indeed say that the {{hangon}} tag should not be removed by the creator, it also says in the directly preceding paragraph that since "contributors sometimes create articles over several edits, [we should] try to avoid deleting a page too soon after its creation if it appears incomplete." The article was only two minutes old when tagged, and was expanded greatly very soon afterwards. This was obviously a case when ignoring the rules (itself a policy) could be safely applied. List of Creatures in Dino Crisis 3[edit]

It containes references to the game and so on. Why should it be deleted? It lists ALL creatures. Logic dictates that if you get rid of this then you must get rid of the page listing Resident Evil creatures aswell. Or the article about the Dino Crisis 3 Ship: Ozymandias OV

Aswell as the 6 images. Honestly have you even read it? OV
I'm addin stuff on constantly. OV
WTF u tryin 2 block me? i all i did was change da speedy delete thing into {{hangon}}OV
we could settle the argument by merging the List of Creatures in Dino Crisis 3 WITH Dino Crisis 3 itself. along with that page about da Ozymandias. respond. OV
WTF now! all i did was put the {{hangon}} thing underneath your speedy delete thing! you didn't like it when i replaced speedy delete with hanon and you still don't like it when i kept the speedy delete and put hang on underneath. Make ur ur mind! OV
Deal. we'll nly have the name of creature, brief info and pic. OV
cos da info on some were far more than others.
But what about the page Ozymandias (Dino Crisis)? that came from Dino Crisis 3 aswell and only involved in 3 OV
also the afor mentioned page was just coppied from Dino Crisis Wiki

You gotta see this[edit]

So I couldn't sleep, and I go through the AfD list and come across this: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pee Your Pants For The Brewers. How it didn't get speedied I'll never know. Realkyhick 09:12, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania in Atlanta![edit]

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 06:32, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Garywooddusk.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Garywooddusk.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 72.88.75.41 (talk) 03:46, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted in Troy, Alabama[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian in Alabama. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Troy University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

I know Alabama is a big state, but if you happen to live near Troy and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from Troy who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 16:07, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:BigCrowd.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:BigCrowd.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Kelly hi! 18:18, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:28, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Colonial Properties has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable REIT, very run of the mill. Unsourced.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
