Hello! Are you aware of Solar updraft tower. You information could be summarised and added to the established article. (aeropagitica) 11:05, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article also uses rhetorical devices and is not written in a neutral tone, i.e.

  • "With climate change upon us the real benefit to countries..." - No citation offered to back up climate change statement and the pronoun usage is uncecessary.
  • "One cannot possibly imagine what would happen to a city..." - Hyperbole.
  • "...it is the authors opinion that the greatest short term use of the technology..." - personal opinion, inappropriate in an encyclopedic article.
  • Now these by products are all well and good, but now that you have created the clean water..." - inappropriate tone.
  • "Why stop there?" - rhetorical device.
  • Our entire modern civilization..." - a massive generalisation with no proof offered to back it up.
  • "Our civilization is dependant on..." another generalisation.
  • "Oil is rapidly running out." - citation to back this statement up is missing.
  • "...our civilization is releasing carbon into the atmosphere at an unsustainable rate..." - again no proof offered for this statement.
  • "How many millions of tons of carbon are generated from coal and oil by lighting our world at night?" - Rhetorical device, inappropriate for an encyclopedia.
  • "Unfortunately our civilization is a victim of its own success." - personal statement, unsupported by evidence.
  • "If we are honest with ourselves in our hearts..." - rhetorical device and purple prose.
  • "It is the authors belief that..." - personal opinion, inappropriate for an encyclopedia.

Please read the welcome salutation, appended below. This will give you an understanding of how to write in an encyclopedic fashion. Regards, (aeropagitica) 11:22, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a PROD tag to your article as that gives you five days to address the above comments before the article can be considered for deletion. Please don't remove it until the outstanding issues have been resolved. Regards, (aeropagitica) 11:31, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello, Highlanderdownunder, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

A tag has been placed on Nomads Golf Club requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Nomads Golf Club[edit]

Have a look at User:JohnCD/Not a noticeboard. I find myself having the same conversation so frequently that I have written this out as a stand-alone essay: I would be interested in feedback as to whether you find it clear and helpful.

What to do next: given that you are clearly in a conflict-of-interest situation:

Suggestions for the article:

  • Shorter, less historical detail. Links to the club's websites will let anyone find out more who wants to.
  • Keep it on-topic. If the charities the club supports are notable enough for their own article, make one, but the golf club's article shouldn't be a WP:Coatrack for "The prevalence of autism is now sixty times greater than when it was first recognised... " and the like.
  • Be careful to avoid a promotional tone. Check out WP:Puffery for the sort of words to avoid. Imagine a carping critic looking over you shoulder saying "Can you prove that? Who says so? Have you got an independent source for it?" The base policy is WP:Verifiability which: "requires that all quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged be attributed to a reliable, published source."
  • If you want to use any text from the various websites, even lightly modified, you must arrange copyright clearance via WP:DCM or WP:COPYREQ
  • You need references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" to demonstrate notability
  • You may find the WP:FAQ/Organizations helpful.

The article's talk page no longer exists despite me asking on multiple occasions to discuss it. I rewrote the brief history so that it did not unduly reference copyright material. Can you please send me a copy of the article to js@webwarmer.net but copying and pasting into notepad then saving, zipping and sending to me please.Highlanderdownunder (talk) 03:02, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Nomads Golf Club, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Nomads Golf Club and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. wjematherbigissue 07:43, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright[edit]

You must write entirely in your own words to avoid copyright. It is not enough to reorder a few phrases or change a couple of words here and there. You did not do this when reposting the article. wjematherbigissue 07:43, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected conflict of interest[edit]

Hello Highlanderdownunder. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Nomads Golf Club, you may have a conflict of interest. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. wjematherbigissue 07:43, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Nomadsgolf logo.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Nomadsgolf logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:04, 16 March 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Armbrust WrestleMania XXVII Undertaker 19–0 13:04, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
