Stansfeld, etc.

[edit]

Hi! Your edit to Stanfield (surname) hit my watchlist today so I investigated and found you are a Stansfeld. Now, I'm a Stansfield and I've come across a few over the years, online and in real life, but never, I think, a Stansfeld. So, I didn't know the two versions are pronounced the same. I missed when you created Stansfield Hall, Todmorden recently so thank you for that which is where my long-ago ancestors came from. I see you have been referencing the 1885 Stansfeld book on archive.org. Because I am the eldest son of the eldest son, etc., I have inherited a copy so if you don't have your own copy then do ask if want anything scanning and so on. Very best wishes. Thanks Thincat for your message & offer. You're the first person to be interested! I worked on the Stanfield, Stansfeld and Stansfield pages to try to improve them Began with people then township, Hall, Field House, Dunninald & the rest. The -feld makes it sound German but same pronunciation because we're all supposed to be from the same "stoney field" originally!

Thanks for the offer about scanning. Haven't put my hands on a copy for a while & in lockdown I've had to use the archive.org version which I think has p.185 missing. So if you get the chance to check & upload the page to Wikimedia Commons, that'd be good! All best. Hiltpriam (talk) 10:53, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Here we are. I've uploaded the page to File:History of the Family of Stansfeld of Stansfield,1885, page 185.jpg. Thincat (talk) 14:01, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thincat Brill - thanks a lot - I remembered a page was missing from when I was doing the people pages and it might be useful - so I'll have a look. Thanks again. All best.Hiltpriam (talk) 12:23, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A goat for you!
