Climate stations

Regarding this edit:

When I put up articles for "Good article" status, reviewers want climate data, even if there isn't necessarily a climate station within the city limits. However the guy didn't appropriately cite the source for the Redondo data. WhisperToMe (talk) 02:39, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Maybe it is something to bring up with WikiProject Cities. Maybe they can determine whether it is still appropriate to post climate data even if the weather stations are not exactly in the city areas.

United merger and Co Mike HQ

Hey! With the United merger happening, it may be possible that Co Mike is absorbed into United (as in there will be no separate airline based in Guam). When you fly into Guam next time (hopefully it will be before air certificates will be merged), it is of an utmost priority to photograph the old Guam terminal (especially if it still has Continental Micronesia markings) WhisperToMe (talk) 06:07, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Breaking format

OAK: Southwest/AirTran

Good day. While I have no argument towards the edit you made of (removing) 71.132.215.82's info, I feel that the announced service possibilities are very important to OAK, through the acquisition. Therefore, instead of copying and pasting the entire article, I (1) used my own wording; (2) included the link for the service talk; (3) listed the main destinations of talk, including their significance briefly. Looking back, perhaps it could be shortened further, but I am trying to figure out how. I am, of course, open to your suggestions, but figure that we could also bring it up on the discussion page. Fair? Also, would it be best to wait until this possible service to eastern cities becomes reality, before including in the article, rather than express optimism? Delta BOS-LHR and MIA-LHR

I don't know if we should include these routes on the pages. Delta announced them...yes but the flights aren't bookable nor do they appear in scheds. A user insists on adding LHR to Delta on Miami International Airport but i keep removing it saying that Delta hasn't receive the OK to fly that route yet nor it is not bookable yet. HELP!!! Yhanks! Okay this source says the building is at 355 Chalan Pasaheru, Route 10A, Tamuning, Guam 96931

The main terminal building is in Barrigada. I don't know if they get mail delivery, but 96931 is a POB ZIP code (Tamuning PO). Chalan Pasaheru is Route 10A. HkCaGu (talk) 17:29, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Guam Police

http://gpd.guam.gov/ContactUs/tabid/2260/Default.aspx says that the Guam PD is based at "233 Central Avenue Tiyan, Guam 96912" Is this in Barrigada?

Also the guy who photographed the Co Mike HQ also got a photo of Guam Premier Outlets, so I added the photo to that article. Yes it is definitely in Barrigada--almost near the SW end of the runway, on the north side above the cliff, near 13.48 N 144.78 E. What Google Maps labeled "N Street" is actually Central Avenue (which parallels Sunset). All the trapezoidal side streets are the lettered streets. HkCaGu (talk) 20:32, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Guam correctional facilities

DYA is likely at the same place as the youth facility. You can look up the Census maps to see if you can find the street names.
DOC has the main adult prison in Mangilao and a detention site in Hagatna. I don't know where their HQ is. Route 15 in front of DOC is pretty much the main prison.
Quite often it's on the news that someone escapes from DYA. A lot less often is the news that someone escapes from DOC, which often lead the media going into "breaking news" mode. So I'm pretty sure they're separate, especially if PDN puts two dots. HkCaGu (talk) 00:56, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
Based on this map San Isidro Street is in Mangilao, off of Dairy Road. It matches with Guam PDN's dot for the youth facility, so they are probably in the same place.
The adult facility is in barely in Mangilao, and west of San Isidro. I believe it's separate.
Now I'm going to post photo requests for the adult and youth facilities.

Business

Hmmm..

the source at the business news says: "It also has expanded its presence in Asia and the Pacific. Continental Micronesia's routes to eight Japanese cities today make up 70 percent of its business." and "Thirty percent of the airline's business comes from its 4,300-mile island-hopper route, which begins in Honolulu, makes five stops and ends -- 14 hours and 10 minutes later -- in Hagatna, Guam's capital city." - But you are right in that it's leaving out Hong Kong, Bali, Manila, etc.

I don't think anyone will correct an old article or bother redoing their research. The article is simply not a reliable source for the "percentage" figures. Everything else can be quoted accordingly. Old Air Micronesia HQ in Saipan

Would you where I would find the information stating exactly where the old Air Micronesia HQ in Saipan was? Flight International seems to only have PO Boxes (understandable since things are different in CNMI) - But it means it doesn't say exactly where the HQ of Air Micronesia is. Hello Cagu, I know that my English is imperfect, so I perfectly agree to see my wording corrected, reworder, etc. And ok, a next landfall, while expectable, is not certain. But Megi is, it's already facts, 1. going northward , 2. now expected to affect Fujian and Taiwan. So please restore this reliable content. That's a matter of 1 mins for a native English speaker.   • Chamorro Land Trust Commission
  • Guam Ancestral Lands Commission

Hard to say. Some commissions are like agencies. CLTC for sure--they decide and grant leases. Also GEC which runs election. HkCaGu (talk) 11:49, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

If you ever see any images uploaded by the Guampedia Foundation that are on Flickr, and you think they may be useful for Wikipedia and/or the Wikimedia Commons, contact the Flickr account to see if the images have been taken by Guampedia. Many people continue to insist that BA to SJU is a resumption. BA LEFT SJU over 10 years ago! Resumed should not be used at all. THis is getting old, help please. Everyone markets SNA as Orange County. Orange County is akin to Los Angeles (as in Santa Ana akin to Westchester). People say "flying to Orange County", "Orange County Airport" and never "Santa Ana Airport" or "Santa Ana's Airport"--unlike how they address BUR, ONT, or LGB. Airports in Madrid

In addition to the Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD / LEMD), Madrid has three other airports open to civilian traffic: the Madrid-Torrejón Airport (TOJ / LETO), the Madrid-Cuatro Vientos Airport (MCV / LECU) and Getafe Air Base (LEGT).

  • Madrid-Torrejón is an Air Base open to civilian traffic (as well as other airports in Spain like Murcia-San Javier, Salamanca, León, Valladolid, and Badajoz). It is open to civilian small-sized aircraft, primarily those that can not operate in Madrid-Barajas. Severeal years ago, when Madrid-Barajas was full of capacity, it had regular passenger flights by Air Truck/Navarra and AIRCAT, but the extension of Madrid-Barajas, poor facilities at Madrid-Torrejón and bad communications in TOJ caused the closure of the scheduled passenger lines, though the airport is still entitled to receive scheduled passenger flights.
  • Madrid-Cuatro Vientos airport is the oldest in Madrid. Due to the small size of the track and its location within the city it has severe operational restrictions (being open only during daylight hours) and also, it is poorly served by public transport to the city, so is unattractive to airlines. However, is still entitled to receive scheduled passenger flights and is the only airport in Madrid opened to helicopter flights.
  • Getafe Air Base is only open to civilian cargo flights, mostly directed to the aeronautical industrial zone next to it (mainly cargo flights for Airbus, Airbus Military, CESA and Raytheon).

I must have expressed myselff wrong. By Civilian I meant scheduled commercial passenger flights. Noticet that all four Madrid Airports have strong military & state (non-scheduled by its nature) presence, hence the reason why I had said that they were civilians. Airport destination listing

Another set of topics:

  1. "Serves" field in the airport inbobox can be wrong, as you have said for Orio al Serio Airport wich server Bergamo and not Milano.
  2. Wikiproject conventions don't have to be followed by everyone, as no one has the obligation to join any wikiproject. I don't care about your conventions if they are against common sense and veracity.
  3. Airlines really fly to Airports and not to the City Downtown. If the Airport has a different common name that should be expressed. I've seen quite examples as East Midland instead of Nottigham/Derby; Tenerife South instead of Granadilla de Abona. Madrid has four airports, one of them placed at Barajas town wich is the only one with scheduled passenger operations as whose name is Madrid-Barajas. Beauvais airport is placed at Tillé (not at Beauvais), hence the name Beauvais-Tillé, there is only one airport but with a complex name.
  4. There is quite totally erroneous destination listed as Arrecife or Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, confusing them with Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, wich are the real destination served.
  5. I've tried to presume good faith, but the only thing that I see is that a small group of wikiusers have usurped the property of some articles regarding airports, in which they insist in including absurd things and they show that have little knowledge of European geography.

As my roommate, who is taking a Wiki-break, used to say. Delta is boasting to overstate their dominance. If a carrier is distorting facts to boost their appeal (for marketing purposes) as it the case for CDG (and perhaps AMS), I think there is a serious problem. As for CVG, it should be downgraded to a Delta Connection hub because of the loss of the lions share of mainline service and complete loss of a widebody crewbase. --Inetpuppy (talk) 05:38, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
