Copyright[edit]

You may want to read Wikipedia's policy on "using copyrighted work from others," which is here. I don't know much about Wikipedia copyright policy, but it would probably benefit you to read up on it if you want to keep your articles from being deleted. P4k 06:34, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

advice from Ceyockey: I've done some investigating at the behest of respondents to my request for review of my actions ... the methods for informing on an article's talk page that copyright has been secured are described at Wikipedia:Requesting_copyright_permission#When_permission_is_confirmed. The contents of the page in which this passage sits, along with the link provided by P4k and the page Wikipedia:Example requests for permission should be sufficient to help you overcome any copyright concerns that we (Wikipedia editors) might have over the copyright status of the material. I hope you understand why I was so ham-fisted over this matter and apologize if my actions seemed downright draconian. Avoiding copyright infringement is a big deal and a never ending exercise here on Wikipedia. Regards --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 15:01, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

response from Hoffa_Fett: I do understand why what's happened happened. I apologize for not thoroughly reading the policies and procedures for Wikipedia contributions. I will read the articles you have suggested. I have submitted an email request to have the block on my username and IP address removed. If you deem appropriate, I would appreciate your support in this matter.

example of resolved copyright issue: Here is an example of a resolved item, so you have a recent example of what a talk page looks like after the OTRS confirmation tag is affixed → Talk:Used hardware. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 16:21, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request[edit]

I've asked after the administrator who enabled the block, which is the appropriate first action - see User_talk:Tawker#Hoffa_fett_-_request_unblock. My understanding is that the block was instituted due to perceived vandalism - please be careful in interacting with tags on articles; in most cases, simple removal is a no-no and there are instructions on the tags about how to dispute them. Also, article blanking is a no-no under most cases (there are some limited exceptions). Regards --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 16:31, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have been unblocked. I'll go about undeleting the articles in question in a little bit; see Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Copyright_violations_dealt_with_en_masse_.28redux.29 for what I'm planning to do. Regards --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 17:40, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spamming[edit]

What you are doing is essentially spamming Wikipedia. Please stop. Thanks, Mak (talk) 00:48, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By creating articles on every single character in a seemingly borderline-notable at best book, you are spamming. Mak (talk) 00:51, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're doing appears to be exactly the same thing you did before[edit]

Please stop this - you have not changed your activity at all as far as I can see. I will block you myself this time if you continue down this road. Respond here. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 00:53, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

responding here the text you are adding is exactly from the pages that you are being cited in the copyvio notes. See George Manor, Sullivan (TLW) (http://www.thelonelywinds.com/characters/sullivan.html), and Jake Osborn before it was deleted. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:03, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will only briefly address the notability issue - that is something I will allow others to address. Please, no more copyvio text. As far as the notability issues that have been raised ... it appears that people are interpreting the novel as non-notable and if that is the case, the character articles associated with the novel will be determined to be non-notable. You asked about the difference between this and other novels/characters - just looking at what you are now putting up ... placing skeletons of articles with no content is a certain path to deletion of those articles (for instance G.R. Herald). --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:07, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can the author post the content - your question[edit]

You asked whether the author of the book could post the content - thereby putting to rest the copyvio issues. That might help, but the demonstration of copyright needs to still be done as noted in links I provided up the page. There is the matter of notability, though - at this point, now that the novel itself has been deleted, unless you can determine how to establish notability of the novel and successfully recover that article via Wikipedia:Undeletion I would not even start considering adding any other articles related to details of the novel. Without an established article for the novel from which the characters come, there will be no chance of those character articles being kept here. Your path forward is to see if it is possible to establish an article about the novel that can survive - mainly it needs to have it's Wikipedia:Notability established; this should be pursued via Wikipedia:Deletion review. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:17, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted the above article, as it included little encyclopedic text and appeared to be spam. Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 01:38, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
