Your edit to Nutrition[edit]

Please do not use the article text for commentary. Use the talk page instead. Thanks,  Sandstein  16:40, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Second warning concerning the above. Cease and desist.— dαlus Contribs 01:14, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, in reply to the message you left for me: Please understand that this is not how Wikipedia works. If you believe that an article is deficient, you should either improve it yourself or comment on the talk page, but under no circumstances should you leave your comments in the article itself. See generally Help:Talk page.  Sandstein  05:42, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Hogwash eliminator! I am CordeliaNaismith and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or by typing {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia! Given your interest in the Nutrition article, I thought you might enjoy these tasty cookies. Thanks for pointing out an error in the Nutrition article; I've fixed the issue you noticed about water dissolving. However as the editors above have suggested, please fix the errors yourself or comment about them on the article talk page in the future, rather than adding commentary to the article itself. If you're concerned about people reading the article being misled by misinformation, you can place template messages like these to point out that there are problems with an article section. Again, welcome! Best, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 02:00, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ANI notice[edit]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is User:Hogwash eliminator. Thank you.— dαlus Contribs 05:47, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hogwash eliminator, welcome, sorry about the rather rough start. I left a note for you at talk:nutrition. And yes, people do read that page. I hope you will stick around since we can certainly use your knowledge. 66.127.52.47 (talk) 09:01, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tongue[edit]

I would not advise it, even if you work out how. You'll get whacked with a WP:TROUT for being uncivil or making personal attacks. I wish I'd grabbed that username, though, there's an awful lot of hogwash to eliminate, especially around homeopathy. Guy (Help!) 21:21, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Wikipedia can seem like a big mess[edit]

Hey Hogwash. Yes, Wikipedia can seem like a big mess to a new user who finds what they in good faith see as big botch-ups in a core article. Being a tertiary reference source drawn from mostly secondary sources, like almost any encyclopedia, Wikipedia has both its helpful and flawed sides. Moreover, Wikipedia is openly edited by volunteers and is always "a work in progress." So in truth, Wikipedia is indeed a big mess, but more often than not, a helpful one. Here are some friendly tips:

  • Cite reliable sources. Try to do this all the time if you can.
  • You're welcome to add sourced content to any article. Please do so if you like.
  • If someone doesn't agree with your edit(s), talk about them on the talk page. If you haven't cited sources, you may not get very far. If you have cited sources and the article isn't a high traffic and controversial one, it's highly likely you'll be able to get the content into the article.
  • Don't comment on other editors, the outcome of doing that won't be what you want. Rather, comment only on sources and how to echo them in the text.
  • There are ways to alert readers straight off that an article or article section is somehow lacking. This is done with templated tags which can easily be put at the top of the article or section. If you hang out here for more than a few days, you'll learn what they are and how they're handled.

If you have questions, you can ask on an article talk page. You can also post questions for me on my talk page, I'll be happy to help out, time allowing.

Welcome and all the best! Gwen Gale (talk) 08:12, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
