There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:

  Help contribute to articles

  Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.

The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!
To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your userpage.

Reptiles[edit]

Careful — I didn't say "Scaly" wasn't notable; I said, "notability not asserted". This means that the problem was, you didn't say anything about why it was notable. The example I like to use: imagine that our article on Obama said only "Barry Obama is a lawyer from Chicago. He wrote a book once, and his father is from Africa." That would not assert any notability whatsoever.

The problem is, you said "it's a TV show made by a twelve-year-old boy and his parents, out of their house, on a shoestring budget, with no outside support or sponsors! Here's a list of the episodes! There's no ratings because it's on a network that doesn't get ratings! Our only source is the network's own webpage! Also the show was long-listed for a Telly and a Regional Emmy, both of which are self-nominated!"

This says zero about notability. Can you show me third-party reliable coverage of "Scaly" ? Coverage that is not ultimately controlled by Daystar and/or the Currens? If you can, well... good! You should have included it in the first place, of course, but that coverage is what makes notability (i.e., the media has taken note of it). If such coverage exists, then it's grounds for restoring the page. If you can't, well... sorry, I hope that now you understand more about what the problem is. Non-notable local TV show

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
