Urban Eden

[edit]

With regret, I will have to undo a lot of your changes to Urban Eden because of Wikipedia's policy WP:primary sources. An organisation's view of itself is not a WP:reliable source. You need to find third part sources to cite.

Also, if you are a member of Urban Eden, you can't edit that article at all, see WP: Conflict of interest. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 14:18, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

On closer inspection, it wasn't as significant as it first seemed. It is reasonable to use an organisation's own web site to confirm what it says about itself. More seriously, the article is very out if date so needs updating or rewriting in past tense as history (and maybe appending to History of Milton Keynes? John Maynard Friedman (talk) 14:46, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@John Maynard Friedman: Hey, please look into my contributions or on the Page History of Urban Eden. I have only so far made minor/maintenance edits, eg. adding categories, adding a bullet, formatting; I have removed a seemingly primary source of Urban Eden, and that's that only source-related edit I made that I can remember. I have not placed any citations in the article. If you think one of my edits are not in line with Wikipedia's policy, please state which part I made a mistake I'd love to hear it, because as far as I know I have not placed any sources, be it primary or secondary, on the page. I am aware of COI. Please carefully look into my recent edits and let me know your thoughts. HotTomatoe (talk) 09:31, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You may have noticed that in the end I didn't actually undo anything of any significance. (I should maybe have said in my second note above that I was withdrawing my concern.) The citations of Urban Eden's website were in support of things it says about itself, so are reasonable and sensible to use. I suspect that if you did find something on the Citizen, they would have got it from UE's website anyway so a different citation would just be cosmetically different. Your contributions were fine, no issues. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 09:48, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Please do not use the Daily Mail as you did at Sasha Allen. It is not a reliable source. See WP:DAILYMAIL. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 10:04, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
