Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Hottscubbard! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan 04:36, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

  • Heh, our job would be so much easier if we had bots. :P You're very welcome. Ryan 05:22, August 2, 2005 (UTC)

Quote style[edit]

Please note that Wikipedia standard style for quote marks follows the British "logical" style of not putting periods or commas inside quotes unless they logically belong there, not the American style of always putting them inside. Many American publications are changing to this style as well, since the reason it was created had to do with the properties of mechanical type and doesn't really apply anymore. --LDC 17:52, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Bullofthewoods.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bullofthewoods.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:12, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
