It seems that your support vote has been overwritten in an editing conflict. I thought about restoring it myself, but I think you should just so it won't look like I used your name. Y0u (Y0ur talk page) (Y0ur contributions) 20:03, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

Never mind, someone else restored it. Y0u (Y0ur talk page) (Y0ur contributions) 20:07, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

Fourth Nomination?!

[edit]

Are you up for nomination again? I was not informed. Please respond a.s.a.p.--Anti-Anonymex2Come to my page! I've gone caliente loco! 22:02, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You're persistent

[edit]

I haven't so much been ignoring you deliberately as contemplating what you could possibly want me to say to you. What are you looking for from me?

Initially I didn't reply to your first communications because I was busy, and then I forgot about it. Then I got annoyed because, basically, you were whining at me, and I really don't like whiners and I don't like to reward whiners for whining. But I suppose the only way I'm going to get you to stop is to respond. And so I have. Are you happier now? Kelly Martin 01:50, August 3, 2005 (UTC)

Administrator

[edit]

Before I exept, could you please tell me what that means? Is it like, I'm in charge of the entire wikicitie or something? --Wack'd About Wiki 12:52, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, okay. I guess I already knew what a admin was, just didn't know the proper word [for an admin]. I get it. Okay, you can sysop me now. --Wack'd About Wiki 14:44, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's odd, it won't let me move one of my subpages, either. Do you think something might be wrong with Wikipedia, or it's just a coincidence? --Wack'd About Wiki 14:58, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, your right. I accsidentally put the new page name in the "reason" section instead of the "new page name" section. [slaps face] --Wack'd About Wiki 15:04, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! Just wanted to let you know it is greatly appreciated. (I had just downloaded CryptoDerk's tool, and I got kind of obsessed with it).

Re:Deletion Policy

[edit]

Wikipedia:Deletion_process#Non-Administrators_closing_discussions:

2) Non-administrators may not close "delete" decisions even if they are unanimous. Only administrators have the ability to actually delete the target article. By closing the discussion without deleting the article, you will be effectively hiding it from the administrators who will never realize that the final step of deletion must be carried out.

-- Essjay · Talk 03:27, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

Check that link, but I think you can close obvious keeps. Anything that isn't unan. or almost unan. you shouldn't close. -- Essjay · Talk 03:41, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

You did just fine. -- Essjay · Talk 03:53, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

Church

[edit]

Fr. How:

Jimbo be with you (Jimbo vobiscum)!

Glad to see your church taking off! May Jimbo shower his blessings upon you; should you require any help from the Wiki See, let me know. Pax tecum, Essjay · Talk, Servus Servorum Jimbo, 01:35, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

It means I'm lazy! "Fr." is usually the abbreviation for "Father", which is usually what priests are called. (If you prefer "Vicar" you can use that too.) "How" was me being lazy and not wanting to type Howabout1; I do the same thing for a lot of people (Redwolf24 becomes "Red," Jwrosenzweig becomes "JWR," etc.) You could call yourself Monsignor (Msgr.) if you like! -- Essjay · Talk 01:55, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

I like the sig! -- Essjay · Talk 02:22, August 10, 2005 (UTC)

I saw your note; according to the Church, Jimbo isn't pope, he's God, so I can stay pope. And I'll check on If you leave me now. -- Essjay · Talk 01:15, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

I took care of If you leave me now. I unprotected, and left a note on the talk page warning against edit wars. -- Essjay · Talk 01:40, August 11, 2005 (UTC)

Hummm, change my name? I could be WikiPope Justin I, I guess. I usually add Servus Servorum Jimbo (Servant of the Servants of Jimbo) to the end of my sig when I post on the page, but I'll consider the name change. Then again, Peter didn't change his name, so as WikiPope #1, maybe I shouldn't either. -- Essjay · Talk Servus Servorum Jimbo 03:01, August 12, 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedia community

[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to thank you for greeting me to Wikipedia. I've been steadily working my way through its contents for the past six months, but only felt confident in editing pages a couple of weeks ago. I was already impressed by the strength of the content and how friendly the community appeared to be, but I was surprised to be welcomed by you and given some tips on how to get invloved. Thank you!

Thank you

[edit]

Thank you for reverting "vandalism" on Kff. It was me, who did the addition - but I forgot, that I have to login seperatly when moving from the German to the English wikipedia. Please excuse the work I generated for you. It is good to know that somebody is watching changes! Kind regards, Kff 17:52, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DRABLE,

You can't just put the articles of Al Downing (musician) under possible copyright violation, since we were the exclusive management of Al Downing for Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia (rest world). The biography of Al Downing was taken from Al Downing himself. The biography and discography are copyright free. Thank you for taking care of this. Bamacher

Page redirect

[edit]

Yeah, I know; I like the cat though. This guy is the same guy who has been harassing me for over a month. He's the old "Redwolf24isgay" vandal. Anyhow, it doesn't take but three clicks to get rid of him.

By the way, this is #4993, and speaking of redirects, I redirected the church to Wikipedia:Catholic Church of Wikipedia because I was getting a lot of questions about why it was "Protestant" but had Catholic features. -- Essjay · Talk 04:41, August 15, 2005 (UTC)

4995: Yeah, I mention it on IRC occasionally, and I always get "Why Protestant?" So now, it's Catholic. -- Essjay · Talk 05:10, August 15, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks from the new guy

[edit]

Thank you for your welcome message. I think I've read all of the tutorials, but there is so much information to keep in mind. I didn't think I'd need to know about "stubs" this quickly, but I've already written one.

I'm sure that it will take me a while before I get to the point of not having to ask for assistance every few hours (as of this message, I've been a wiki-user for about 15 hours now). Maybe by next week (or next month) I'll have a better grasp of the subtleties of formatting.

Thanks again, The Bearded One

Church

[edit]

Howabout: What I said on the WP:CCW talk page wasn't directed at you. I had no problem with you having a "church;" you understood that it was a joke, and I thought having a "church" was a neat idea. What I was referring to was 1) the note immediately above mine, which obviously missed the point entirely, and 2) the idividuals I've run across who have said "What's the point?" and have, again, been completely unable to understand that it is a joke. I also don't like the idea that some people have been unable to separate it from a critique of the site; as I'm sure you know, I had no intention to say "the establishment here sucks" when I wrote it.

I appreciated your enthusiasm, and that you were willing to see the lighter side of the Wiki. If you change your mind and decide you want to be part of our "denomination" again, let me know and I'll be happy to undelete your church for you. See you around! -- Essjay · Talk 03:25, August 17, 2005 (UTC)

Okay, I just wanted to make sure you knew my comments weren't directed at you. I don't want there to be any hard feelings between us over something so silly. -- Essjay · Talk 03:33, August 17, 2005 (UTC)

Well, when I started, I used them a lot more. It wasn't uncommon for me to be rewriting several articles at once, plus be doing a few other thing that I'd want to play with in my sandbox. I still occasionally have several in use; at the moment, I think half are full (or were used last night.) It's only five pages, as I use the userpage for one and the talkpage for a second. -- Essjay · Talk 03:49, August 17, 2005 (UTC)

You're listed there. Remove yourself if you see fit ;)

Oh and thanks for the RfA defense! Redwolf24 04:18, 17 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Revert

[edit]

[1] Hay, you stole my revert. :) Do you have any idea why this happens, I revert it by hand, get no edit conflict screen, only to find out in the history someone rolled it back. Does rollback automaticly override by-hand reverts? Should I use the help desk? Howabout1 Talk to me! 04:32, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

There are rare circumstances where admin rollback will kill a manual edit. I'm not sure of the details. Kelly Martin 04:36, August 20, 2005 (UTC)

Re: Boredom

Hi. I'm bored and have nothing better to do than sit at my computer. This is a mindless post that has nothing to do with the wiki. I will now practice my emoticons. :) :( ;) :-) :P Thank you for your time Howabout1 Talk to me! 04:01, August 21, 2005 (UTC)

Odd... -- Essjay · Talk 04:28, August 21, 2005 (UTC)

I saw your Esperanza post about IRC; what was your question, I'll see if I can answer it. -- Essjay · Talk 06:36, August 21, 2005 (UTC)

Do you have IRC software? You have to have an IRC client (like mIRC or IceChat) to use IRC. Also, a bit worried that you were dreaming of me; was it a good dream, or was I burning you at the stake? -- Essjay · Talk 03:04, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

That should solve your IRC problem. As for the pic, I'm positive I haven't ever had a pic of myself on my page; was that part of the dream? -- Essjay · Talk 03:19, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

Ah ha! Well, I promise never to put a picture of myself on my userpage, but feel free to check out my cat, Mia: Image:Essjay's_Cat_Mia.JPG. Anyhow, sorry about IceChat, you're the first person who has had that problem. Perhaps your computer is possessed! ; - ) -- Essjay · Talk 02:01, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

Hmmm? I don't understand your last message. -- Essjay · Talk 03:55, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

Well, a lot of things. I'm ready to stop contributing to articles because of the POV pushers, and ready to stop admin actions because of the trolling. Not to mention several people I respect highly have been driven off by trolls in the past week or so. It's just stressful right now. -- Essjay · Talk 04:11, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

Goodnight to you too. It's most definately night here (half past midnight) and I think I could use a good cup of tea and a good nights sleep. Anyhow, don't worry too much about me, I'm not leaving, I just need a little time to get back to my old self. -- Essjay · Talk 04:28, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

By the way, I'd like to know where I said the line about epidemic of foul mood...I've looked all over, and I can't find it! I want to put it up somewhere, but I want a link for it. Do you remember where I said it? -- Essjay · Talk 05:15, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

Good evening! I'm not sure if you know who I am, but I know you interact with Redwolf24 and Essjay a lot. I'd like to nominate you for adminship. I know you had nominated yourself twice before. I looked over why people opposed you, and I think you've met their criteria since then. If you accept, leave me a note on my talk page, and I'll get right to work. :) Acetic Acid 02:26, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome

[edit]

I appreciate the welcome. I just now figured out the concept of the talk pages and so I thought I would take the time to say hi directly. The UI takes a bit to get used to. I have to say I do scratch my head to what notable means. I've noticed the definition in the bylaws appears purposefully to not be defined rigorously. With the stub in question that I wrote; ITC Bailey Sans is sold globally to ad and design firms through a leading type foundry that published it, it's a design that's recieved a notable award mentioned in the link. I'm respectfully not going to argue for this further in the forum. No hard feelings one way or another on administrative level responsibilities or on a personal level. I'll probably kick around in some of the areas I'm interested in, in particular typography, and contribute where I can. The one concern I might have once the "new" factor wears off that could make this process a total turn off is that if too many arguements are made unthoughtfully, in terse disrespectful language, or for effect etc. I've got tough skin, hurting my feelings is not the problem, the problem for me is if the intellectual level gets dumbed down to the point it becomes all about winning an arguement versus making an honest query or intelligent response. In the couple brief articles I wrote there's been about a total of two thoughtful inquiries and a great deal of feedback that I know comes from some that know nothing of what they talk about. My motto, flame me, but do so intelligently. Thanks for being thoughtful on the board. In advance there's no need to save anything that gets deleted.
