Image copyright problem with Image:The foreshadowing cross.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:The foreshadowing cross.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 18:10, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article you created The Foreshadowing has been deleted because of WP:CSD A7. You may also want to read WP:BAND. Articles about bands have to make claims about why the band is significant. All articles also have to cite sources in order for users to verify information. Also, if you are in the band, please read WP:COI: it is strongly recommended not to write articles about yourself. Finally, the image you uploaded has been deleted because it is a copyright violation. If you own the rights to the image, you'd need to fill out an WP:OTRS ticket in order for us to have on record that you give permission to release the image under a free license. If you have any questions about any of this, I'd be glad to help. Thanks.-Andrew c [talk] 16:25, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've gladly restored the article as a sandbox in your userspace, see User:Howitzer666/The Foreshadowing. You are free to work on improving the article there until you believe it meets our inclusion criteria. It may help if you ask for a second opinion before you bring it live again (perhaps at Wikipedia:Requests for feedback). The page on citing sources can be found at WP:CS. What I think might help is to find an existing article, say Slayer, which is a featured article on a metal band. Notice how and what is being sourced. Look at how they format the references, and consider what type of sources are being used. Basically, if you state something like "This band recieved album of the year from Magazine X" you need to follow the statement with a reference which supports that claims. There are a couple of ways of doing that, from Wikipedia:Citation templates to just using plain text. I'd suggest reading a little bit, and then looking at the code of existing articles. If you have more specific questions, I'd be glad to help out. If you have any problems or want me to check your code or anything, I wouldn't mind helping out there either.
As for the image, since it is copyrighted, you are going to need to get the licensed owner to release the image under a free license (GFDL is one of a number of free licenses that are acceptable here on wikipedia). This page, Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission may help you. I think it amounts to needing the copyright owner to send in a OTRS ticket saying they release the image under license X. Also keep in mind that we do not accept images that only have permission to be used on wikipedia. All of our images are "free", even outside of wikipedia. Again, good luck!-Andrew c [talk] 21:40, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
