Tether satellite[edit]

I saw your post at Talk:Gravitation. As mentioned, the Science reference desk is a better venue for such discussion. I did, however, wish to direct your attention to Tether satellite, which discusses what sounds like a similar system to your proposal. Dangling a conductor from a satellite so that it cuts Earth's magnetic field is certainly possible, though if I recall correctly there were some engineering kinks when they tried it.
