Article Deletion

Is article deletion a tool restricted to admins? I notice there is a backlog on CSD, and I was wondering how I could do my part to help clear the backlog, but I can't figure how to completely delete a page. Can someone help?

Yes, page deletion is among one of the facilities available only to administrators. Thank you for your enthusiasm, though - if you continue contributing to Wikipedia, you might be able to become an admin. (See WP:RFA for more on this). Cheers, Tangotango 15:32, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Wooow. Fast response. Thank you much. HubHikari 15:39, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
It's difficult to say, because people have different standards on promoting people to administrator status, but there's a list of some people's standards at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Standards. At the moment, the average seems to be 3-6 months of active participation, and over 1000-3000 edits in terms of figures, unfailing display of enthusiasm and courtesy, and sticking to the rules. You don't seem to be lacking in the latter traits (in fact, you seem to be doing quite well :) ), but your edit count, which some people seem to regard too highly, is a little low yet. (You can check by installing the tool at User:Interiot/Tool2/code.js) For your convenience, here's your edit count as of now:
Total edits	90
Distinct pages edited	68
Average edits/page	1.324
First edit	00:53, 10 November 2005

(main)	51
Talk	16
User	3
User talk	16

People will also be looking at your Wikipedia space edits (edits to any page whose title begins with Wikipedia:), and your Talk edits, both of which show community participation. You may like to start voting at Articles for Deletion, or even at Requests for adminship itself, to begin participating more. Also, you mentioned a self-nomination, but you should bear in mind that many people do not appreciate self-nomations as much as nominations by other people, as a self-nomation suggests that you may be power-hungry (I'm not saying you are - but some people sadly will jump to conclusions in RFAs).
The best thing to do would be to monitor Wikipedia:Requests for adminship - there are ample examples in each week, some which succeed, and some which don't. Although adminship shouldn't be a goal, you can usually pick up a few hints as to what a "good" Wikipedian is there.
If there's any other help you'd like, feel free to write again. Wishing you the best of luck in your editing, Tangotango 06:58, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Matt Pintar

I think you really didn't see what I editted. I placed a deletion tag on a nonnotable article. I didn't add the nonsense, I ushered it's deletion. Yanksox 17:55, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

No reason to be sorry, I got a little heated too. We both should be relaxed, graduation is soon. Yanksox 18:00, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Who said College was bad? Yanksox 18:02, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I understand what you mean. It's a transition period. You'll be fine, the key is not to compromise too quickly. Or at least that's what I've been told. Yanksox 18:05, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I go to school Here and will soon go Here Yanksox 18:08, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

No problem, hope you have a good one. Yanksox 18:11, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

New Page patroling

Yeah, it looks like it, doesn't it? Cheers to you, too! -- Vary | Talk 15:46, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

It's quite fun. Yanksox 16:00, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Damn, you have beaten me several times Yanksox 16:36, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

obviously you haven't even paid any attention to anything I wrote.

These girls are revolutionizing the South Bend scene-- and furthermore-- the midwest punk scene. If you'd like to ADD more to them that would be more apporpriate.

Okay, you want relevant information? The have opened for a number of important bands, including Michael Graves-- former frontman of The Misfits.

If I knew how to sign my messages I would-- but this heirarchy that is Wikipedia is putting me, the average man, down. I refuse to be part of your facist community and will continue fighting for equal wikipedia rights. And Inu-Yasha is smelly.

There is an official website-- www.basementinvaders.com -- but their label owner got into an argument and thus kicked them out and broke the webpage he made for them. You'd like him, he's a facist like you. Feel happy-- i conformed to your name signing nazi games. Grog2006 16:46, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Grog, you need to relax. I know dejection hurts, but calm down. Yanksox 16:48, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Article on you

No problem. -- Vary | Talk 17:07, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Why on earth did you mark this for speedy deletion? You did this not ONE MINUTE after I put the article up. This seems precipitous to me. Kea is among other things a character in the Middle Cornish play Bewnans Ke, and there is no reason this Celtic saint should not have a page on him. Evertype 17:36, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Umm.You told me to discuss this with you.I have seen other peoples pages on this website similar to mine and they are really outdated.Lots of people have been requesting to me to make this list and I chose to make it here.Yet you keep on deleting it within a few minutes. Why?

Friends on your userpage

You've got some foes here. Yanksox 01:27, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

hey, buddy, you might wanna read the wikipedia article on nazis. They have some interesting things to say about your political beliefs Grog2006 16:43, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

You need to ease up, Grog. Yanksox 16:44, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

There are many CA legal essays by Darren@nocuffs (talkcontribs), I'm going to start tagging them as {{prod}} original research. J\/\/estbrook Talk VSCA  19:40, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't think he is getting the picture, a few more essays and I suggest we go to WP:AIV J\/\/estbrook Talk VSCA  19:51, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Sounds good, but I think he caught on a little bit and has removed a few {{prod}} tags, DOH! J\/\/estbrook Talk VSCA  20:13, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
WAIT, by guidelines you can't revert a {{prod}} removal, you have to list it for WP:AFD. Lets us at least abide by WP guidelines if he can't J\/\/estbrook Talk VSCA  20:17, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

NO, WAIT! we can't revert {{prod}} removals, once it is removed you have to list for WP:AFD, if he removes those you can revert J\/\/estbrook Talk VSCA  20:23, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

sorry for the double comment but I had to get your attention... LOL J\/\/estbrook Talk VSCA  20:27, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
to start the AFD put {{subst:afd}} at the top and then read the directions in the AFD tag, it will tell you what to click on and what to put where. heres and example Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/How does Evidence Code Sec. 664 apply to DMV Hearings let me know if you need help J\/\/estbrook Talk VSCA  20:35, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
The AFD process looks at the merits of the article not the editor, I'd refrain from talking about the editor in AFD discussion, and when listing it hit the [show] link on the tag to get the correct templates for the steps J\/\/estbrook Talk VSCA  20:53, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism, Sweet Vandalism

Man, I have really annoyed some people as of late. Kind of funny. Yanksox 11:56, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Lol, it's funny, I really don't like ticking people off. These are just people who really want to see their "articles" stay, and attack me. I think they forget that real people are making these posts. Yanksox 12:00, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

I've noticed that too, very scary. Yanksox 12:05, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Well good sir my friend Chis is very important and you cutting off my article on him is unacceptable. I would like to say he is not a "non-notable" person and is well know throughout are state. He has particpiated in many current events and has a good degree of brain power. He alslo worked at a homeless shelter. -YEEBOY

What article? Yanksox 11:47, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Paige Corriea.--HubHikari 11:47, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

That whole article is very strange, she could be real but no hits come up. I was iffy on that one. Why it's a prod and not speedy. Yanksox 11:48, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Self comment

Say, what would I do if I wanted to submit an informal request for the community's opinion of me as an editor? RfC seems a bit overpowered for something like this, and I don't know where to post that sort of request. If someone could assist, it would be much appreciated. Thank you, HubHikari 16:17, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Editor Review is exactly for the purpose you describe. Cheers, Tangotango 16:23, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

HELP!

Please help. Lightdarkness has blocked the IP address from which I edit at school, which is 205.222.240.2. The reason he gave was "Repeat vandalism, 16th block, just returned from a 6 month block, have your system administrator contact me." His entry does not show up on Wikipedia's blocked IP list, despite the fact that this is a new block. Please assist. --HubHikari 13:40, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

I've taken a look and the block shows up now. Hope this helps. --pgk(talk) 16:16, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Yo its YEEBOY again! Yall fools be dissin chis. Thats ridiculous he is even better than Albert Einstein and Nelson Mandela. You know Jesus? Chis KICKED his ass. Heard of the Unknown Soldier? Chis made him that way. Hit me up.

-YEEBOY

The article was created because the material is too exhaustive to remain in its parent article. The material is not POV because is is merely describing the beliefs of a particular religious organization, not espousing them. There are references that do not appear to be showing. Please discuss your proposals before placing tags like this on articles like this. If this were an article on Quaker, or Muslim, or Hindu beliefs, it would still describe the specific topics at hand, as this article does. I would hope taht you grasp this and decide to remove the tag of your own volition.

Respectfully, CobaltBlueTony 16:48, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

David Weatherall

David Weatherall is a renowned British medical researcher. Here is a recent comment from the British Mediacl Journal

David Weatherall b 1933, regius professor of medicine, Oxford

John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, 01/04/96 Unassuming and generous in spirit, David Weatherall's only defect is the unusual one for a doctor of an addiction to his pipe. His outstanding contribution has been to bring the modern science of molecular biology to the bedside, particularly in the study of blood diseases, in which he specialises. Unlike so many who are concerned only with their research, Weatherall is that rare individual who is also an excellent clinician and teacher, as well as somebody who has thought deeply about the place of medicine and doctors in society as a whole. Through his work as senior editor of the Oxford Textbook of Medicine his influence has extended far beyond Britain.

Yo Hub Cheers to you to mate. But put back my page you are being absurd and you obviously dont realize his greatness. You are obviously canadian. Chis also supports anime so you should put it up too. I hope you realize how foolish your being. He is a great humble person and deserve to be on wikipedia. Hit me up. -YEEBOY

Hey

Someone vandalized your userpage again. I comment on your review. If you ever consider running for admin, I'll be glad to help you. You should check out the vandalism I'm getting. Yay...(sarcastic)Yanksox 14:50, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

I was actually checking out that picture (I have vandalized userpages on my watchlist) when you messaged me. Pretty Sweet. Yanksox 13:45, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Might turn into a fashion. I feel jealous, might create my own. Then again...meh...Yanksox 13:49, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

It looks like someone else has already returned the speedy tag. The reason is that the article needs to explain how the band meets the criteria for notability at WP:BAND. If you think that this band meets the criteria, take off the tag and add the relevant info into the article. Thanks.Bill 17:00, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
