October 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Victor Schmidt. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Anatoly Babko, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Victor Schmidt (talk) 10:29, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

November 2020[edit]

Information icon

Hello Hugh Brooker. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Hugh Brooker. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Hugh Brooker|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. GSS💬 14:23, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

GSS I am not paid. I was translating it from Ukrainian version into English. If you see my modest contribution history you well understand that I edit cross-wikipedia. It's easier for me. I like to translate from Ukrainian into English or Russian. --Hugh Brooker (talk) 09:24, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock[edit]

Request reason:

I've been blocked without any reason. I was convicted as a duck/sockpuppet because I submitted the article about G5 company into EN Wikipedia. Here is the link to check user investigation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Cassandra_Grim/Archive However, I am not connected with the user, who previously posted that page. I just translated it from Ukrainian language and I posted in on the Talk page of the article. So, I was suspected to be a sock puppet and without even hearing my voice I was blocked indefinitely. And the check user didn't show any results. I was just blocked because someone had some ideas about me. Is it fair? I beg you help as I feel frustrated. I posted several Draft into submission and I'm interested in Ukrainian and English wikipedia. It's strange to act so voluntarily and behind the red line. Hope my appeal will be fairly treated. Best regards! Hugh Brooker (talk) 09:20, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You will have to do more than just deny sockpuppetry, you will need to better explain the similarities in behavior. The checkuser did not rule sockpuppetry out. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 19:20, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I know Ukrainian and Russian and English, that's why I translate from time to time. I clearly state here that I just translated the article from Ukrainian wiki to English. My connection to sockpuppetry is false as I don't know the person which is the case for this investigation that caused by blocking. I see here just a desire to blame me in something, I didn't do. Please, be kind and remember the basic rule in Wikipedia: WP:GF (Wikipedia:Assume good faith).--Hugh Brooker (talk) 18:06, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 02:24, 25 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
