Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Altan (band), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Cáceres (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page. Years of hard work

[edit]

Hi. In this edit summary here you refer to "years of hard work". As you have only been a registered user of Wikipedia a few months, I wonder whose work you were referring to and how you were aware of it?

I also wonder if you know Wikipedia policy regarding those who create new accounts to avoid blocks?

I'm not in complete agreement with all of John's changes, but he has removed a great deal of fancruft and improved the overall state of the article. It's a pity you can't appreciate that. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 00:03, 16 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you continue to restore unreferenced or poorly referenced material to an article on living people it is likely you will be blocked. Is this what you want to happen? I strongly recommend you raise your suggestions at Talk:Simple Minds. You would do well to consider Escape Orbit's point as well. --John (talk) 05:16, 16 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And on that point, are you Lurulu (talk · contribs)? --John (talk) 05:39, 16 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I also came across your contributions today and I feel you are a sockpuppet of Lurulu (talk · contribs) trying to get around the block. You edit the exact same articles and have the MO, except for recreating articles deleted through AfD. You should address these concerns if they are not true, instead of continuing your edits. Why are you moving all the lede prose into the article body itself? And why just the Yes album articles? I don't understand your reasoning and I don't think you understand how Wikipedia articles are meant to be structured. All articles must have a lede which act as a summary of the entire article. Please stop with these edits. LowSelfEstidle (talk) 17:25, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of List of Boy George concert and DJ tours

[edit]

Hello HurluGumene,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of Boy George concert and DJ tours for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. KaraokeMac (talk) 21:33, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Songs of Innocence

[edit]

Hi HurluGumene, I saw your edit note questioning why only one release date is included in the infobox. This is a standard format that all articles under the Albums WikiProject are supposed to follow. According to the appropriate style guide "Albums are often released on different dates, on different labels, and on different formats in different regions. This information can be included in a table. Note that the infobox should only include the first release date and label." Basically the later release dates can be included in the article, but only the first day on which the album was released should be noted in the infobox. This is because once it is released in one manner it can be obtained anywhere, even if later releases of the same material are also planned. This is why reissues and expanded releases are also not typically included in the infobox. I hope this helps answer your question. Happy editing! AC/DC

[edit]

Hi, the members' page has used that format for a number of years, so if you want to suggest changes, please use the talk page, like everyone else does. Also, it is not true that any of those former members were temporary. All were considered permanent at the time, according to the sources. One that is not clear is Paul Matters, who is currently listed as a temporary member. I don't think it's appropriate to list someone like Laughlin, who stood in for Evans at a few gigs, next to someone like Bon Scott. Cheers, Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:25, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You don't appear to understand Wikipedia. You do not change something, start an edit war and say "Time for changes" or "please respect my edit which is much better". You have to discuss on the talk page, or you risk getting blocked. Again. Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:39, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. 1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on The Police. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

Unexplained reverts

[edit]

You obviously disagree with my edits to Altan (band), but I would appreciate you explaining your reverts. I started a talk page section in good faith, and I would appreciate you commenting there. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on AC/DC.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. Motörhead

[edit]

Hello, I see you have been involved in editing Motörhead. You need to read through all the talk pages for the last 5 months prior to continuing the style of edits you have made, which if you had done so would know no to put English attached to their lede any more.

Current line up (for 25 years)

Lemmy is originally from England, but moved to LA in 1990 permanently, becoming a US Greencard permanent resident
Phil Campbel is Welsh, not English, and has continuously lived in Wales (joined 1984)
Mikkey Dee is Swedish, not English, and has continuously lived in Sweden (joined 1991)

Previous lineups:

Michael Burston is English, but moved to LA in 1990, and left the band in 1995 (11 years in the band)
Eddie Clarke is English, but left the band in 1982 (7 years in the band)
Phil Taylor is English, but left the band in 1984, moved to LA in 1990 after rejoining the band in 1987, and since leaving the band in 1991, returned to England (10 years in the band)
Brian Roberston is Scottish, and left the band in 1984 with Phil Taylor (18 months in the band)
Pete Gill is English and left the band in 1985 (2 years in the band)

They have been an International band 2/3 of its life, the English moniker stopped in 1986, 11 years after Lemmy started the band, and consisted of International members for 25 years, and was not based in England since 1988, 13 years after Lemmy started the band.

If you wish to participate in the Motörhead body of work you need to read all the talk pages first please, and don't forget to put an edit summary so your contribution isn't reverted for failing the rule requiring such edits.

Speedy deletion nomination of Na Mooneys (album)

Hello HurluGumene,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Na Mooneys (album) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is significant enough to be included in an encyclopedia, and the artist doesn't have an article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello. A tag has been placed on Na Mooneys requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 02:12, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Acoustic

[edit]

Hi, i have reverted your changes on Acoustic (Simple Minds album). You write that Acoustic is "not a studio album of original material". An album consisting of non-original material can still be a studio album, because the songs have not been previously released (example: Aquostic (Stripped Bare)). Wikipedia defines a compilation album as being "compiled from other recordings, either previously released or unreleased." The songs on Acoustic have not been previously released, but are instead (newly) recorded (in a studio) for this project. Also, you write that "This is a cover (studio) album". Again, a cover album can also be a studio album (example: Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics.)-z33k (talk) 15:21, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

bold/semicolon discussion

[edit]

Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Accessibility#Screen_readers It produces the same effect as the Semicolon, so what was the issue?

Also, the "of original material" thing. Do Simple Minds do cover albums or something? If so, even on the new Rolling Stones album, it doesn't list anything about it in the first sentence about it being covered material. --Jennica talk / contribs 22:40, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Simple Minds do cover albums!!! About the new Rolling Stones album: it should! HurluGumene (talk) 06:09, 26 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And it does. But that does not mean every other studio album should say 'original material'. That generally speaks for itself. Only if it is a specific covers album does it need to say so, see for instance Honkin' on Bobo. If the album contains both, like Please Please Me, it does not apply. As it was not the intention of the artist to release a covers album, and the secondary sources do not describe it as such. The same goes for a collection of acoustic re-recordings, such as Unplugged (Eric Clapton album). Karst (talk) 23:15, 26 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I totally disagree! Anyway, the words "of original material" are in brackets. What's the problem? Besides, IT WAS the intention of the artist (Simple Minds or Rolling Stones) to release a covers album! Finally, Eric Clapton 's Unplugged is a covers live album, not a studio one. Thus, the wiki article should indicate "covers live album"... HurluGumene (talk) 07:47, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I respect your opinion. However, the sources need to be your guide on this. Do the reviews highlight that these albums consist of 'original material' as opposed to covers? As by inserting 'original material', it suggests that the artist largely records other people's material. The Rolling Stones indeed intended to release a covers album and that is mentioned, similar to Honkin' on Bobo. The Acoustic album by the Simple Minds is described as such, with only the Richard Hawley song described as a cover in the reviews. And the Clapton live Unplugged album falls into the similar bracket as Please Please Me where a number of songs were blues covers. That is different to From the cradle which is a covers album and referred to as such in the sources. If not, then it has no place in the article, as it falls in the original research bracket. But feel free to start a WP:RfC on these matters. Karst (talk) 12:27, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Theatre, Club and Arena Tour

The article Theatre, Club and Arena Tour has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Upcoming. Not notable yet. Fails WP:NMUSIC.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, HurluGumene. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Fall 2016 US Tour, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
