Dear Hurricanefan25,

I have added a couple of refs to the rather messy article on Wu Wei-shan (including this one http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/gallery/sculpture2009/page3.html). I think these, to my mind anyway, indicate he is clearly notable. I mention this here to in case you might like to give the afd another look. Best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 09:26, 9 July 2011 (UTC))

Re: Tropical cyclone track maps

Titoxd (talk · contribs) helped me download/install the program to generate the tracks but the step-by-step instructions on the track page should be clear on how to get it. If you have any questions about how to get around to it just ask Tito, he knows more about it than I do. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 14:47, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Glad you're back

Nice! So what do you have planned now that Debra is in good shape? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:05, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

TS Gaston (2010), and also I'm going to address your comments on the talk page of Debra. Hurricanefan25 tropical cyclone 14:10, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Just so you know, there were discussions about Gaston getting an article, but it was agreed that it shouldn't due to the storm not affecting land. Have you considered taking an existing article and finishing it? That is much more useful to the encyclopedia than creating a new article. Or, are you looking to create another new one from scratch? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:42, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
That is kind of tricky, since most storms since Debra either have articles or didn't affect land. There is the May 1976 Florida subtropical storm, or the June 1974 Florida subtropical storm, which were around the same time period. Both caused heavy rainfall in Florida, and probably have enough for articles. If you want a named storm, there are some on the Pacific side, such as Hurricane Doreen (1977) (hit Mexico as a hurricane and caused heavy damage and rainfall in southwest United States), or even something as recent as Tropical Storm Julio (2002) (which brushed southwestern Mexico). However, I honestly think you would be wasting your time with Gaston. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 16:36, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

The Signpost: 18 July 2011

Yes, no problem. Also, I see the article could still use some information on the background geology and comparison to previous earthquakes, and the article title is a bit cumbersome (maybe something like "2011 Ferghana Valley earthquake" could be better?). ~AH1 (discuss!) 15:40, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Letting you know of a mistake as per your user homepage. Reverted your edits of the box office records on the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 page. The film does not tie for the record of fastest to $150mil (5 days). I am guessing you meant to put fastest to $200mil, however the film does not tie that record either, it sits in 2nd place. Yes the days are the same (5 days), however tie's are broken based on the box office gross of the five days - in which case the Dark Knight is still in first place. Please see All Time records on BoxOfficeMojo. Mattmarks001 (talk) 18:05, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

re: articles

Well, you haven't really been around here that long, so you're still free to experiment with articles ;) As for Tomas, yea, it's in pretty good shape. It's mainly missing aftermath, which is the section that describes aid distributed, reconstruction efforts, any diseases spread by the storm, etc. It would be a great help to the project if you could do that! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:38, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

Adoption course

Hi Hurricane fan. How's you? Been a little while, I just thought I'd pop over and see how you were doing. You seem to be progressing very quickly on your article space work, and are doing a fantastic job on a topic I'm not particularly strong on. Since you're doing so well, I'm planning to archive the adoption course - if you ever want to come back and work on it, let me know and I can bring it out of archive, but I think you'll manage pretty well on your own. As ever, I'm always available for questions on any topics, you can always pop over for a chat about any topic. If you'd rather I didn't archive, let me know and I'll bring it back out. Debra

It's great that you're putting so much effort into Debra, but I honestly think it was a bad idea asking for a second peer review, considering the previous GA review just failed. Furthermore, there are plenty of other articles out there that would benefit so much more from more attention like that. Just saying :P --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 21:55, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

Infobox Hurricane template

Hey, is there anything you oppose about the new infobox? The discussion has been ongoing enough that the new revision should be accepted. All objections were addressed. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:48, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Re: Debra

Alright, I gave it a quick look-through and left comments on its talk page. It's good to see you editing again! Do you have any other projects for the future? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:36, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Great! Yea, there probably aren't any from 2000 to 2010. In fact, I picked Debra because I felt that was the most recent storm notable enough for an article (or, at least, one that didn't have an article and had enough of a variety of sources). Rather than writing an article from scratch, why not improve an existing article? That does far more good for the project. For example, Hurricane Paula (2010) is largely complete, but the meteorological history is only good through the first paragraph. The details on its intensification and weakening are largely absent. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:47, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
Yea, the main thing for me is the boring opening sentence. Why don't you try experimenting and coming up with something more creative? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 16:28, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
What about - "...was the second of two TS's to hit the US in the 1978 season". I don't think you need to mention the tornadoes in the MH, since that is more impact. As for the impact, does it really take three refs to cite - "Gale warnings were prompted from Galveston, Texas, through to Grand Isle, Louisiana, at 18:00 GMT on August 28"? And are five needed to cite - "Despite these evacuations, a 15-foot (4.6 m) wave killed a person at a rig 80 miles (130 km) offshore from Cameron, Louisiana"? As for the disorganization, you should combine all of the Louisiana info into one paragraph. That'd make it read a lot better. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:28, 11 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, before you do, try cutting down on the references. You don't need three to say where the peak rainfall was. There are many, many examples. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:21, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Alright!!!! Great work man. Got anything lined up? --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:31, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

You might want to think twice about the timeline. 1984 is currently a good topic, and making that could jeopardize its status. Furthermore, there isn't strong agreement over what seasons should and shouldn't get timelines, so that may be a bad idea. I hope you consider Paula though. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:35, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
I'm guessing you saw my comment to TA13 :P By the way, a bunch of us are on the hurricanes IRC channel, if you want to come on. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:13, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
Nah, I don't buy that about the TD :P Have fun with Greta though. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:19, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
Here is the storm wallet by the NHC that has discussions, preliminary reports, a satellite pic, and other fun stuff. As for IRC, I won't be there, I'll be out of town. I'm sure the others will be happy to talk with you tho! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:01, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Re: Maria

Hello,

In the future, please do not make articles on storms until after they become notable; Maria might have tropical storm warnings/watches currently but it is not notable enough for an article. You might want to create a sandbox for Maria instead and work on an article until Maria becomes notable enough (it likely will) to warrant a mainspace article.

Thanks — Ines(talk) 21:55, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Conversion of units in hurricane articles

I've noticed a few times now that when converting from miles or mph to kilometers or km/h, you've either made several errors in your conversions or have updated the imperial units but forgotten to update the metric units. Please just make sure you're a bit more careful in the future and double check your work before saving the edit. Thanks! Inks.LWC (talk) 05:21, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Something to say for the NASA pictures

I know that the quality of most of the NASA pictures is good enough. However, the NASA sometimes provides pictures without proper appearance. That is the reason why I uploaded another image of Sonca and cropped the image of Roke from the NASA. I directly uploaded the picture of Talas because it is already perfect.

I hope you will not reverse them again as they are better images for those two typhoons. -- Meow 19:12, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

    Paula/Nicole

Nah, Nicole just left a decrease in surface pressures in the region. It's not directly attributed to Nicole the remnant cyclone, which was absorbed into a frontal system. You can mention Nicole in Paula's MH though, as it being an indirect influence on the environment. Auree 18:47, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
