Pirate message

Hey Husond, I saw you drop the orange/black pirate day message on Chrislk02's page, and if that is a template somewhere, would you drop over to Timothy's page and let him know where to find it? He'd really love using that one today! Thanks dear! ArielGold 17:00, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there. I took your advice, waited a few more weeks, and did some more work as you suggested. I could not get everything done you recommended. This is not to curry your vote, but to inform you, that I have taken the plunge. Bearian 20:31, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Admin coaching, again

Hey Husond, I just wanted to tell you that DHMO will be co-coaching with you (if you don't mind, that is) and that the page is located here. Thanks so much! Love, Neranei (talk) 02:58, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Husond, I just realised that my userpage sucks in IE...just like yours :p So I stole your disclaimer text and put it on mine, along with an alternate IE version. It's Been A Long Time

I am Payne2thamax you blocked my months ago but an administrator named CanadienCaesar reblocked me and I have remained blocked. Ceasar hasnt edited a page since april and now I'm ready for a comeback. I'm done with User:Kemor, if I see him and when I do I won't get into another edit war. Do you think that I can finally get unblocked, I'm legit. And plus if you look at the comments Kemor has left in his edit summaries, you will notice that he has a history of verbally assaulting other users and yet he has only been blocked for three days. Please man, I need too make things right, I want to comeback and edit. Payne2thamax —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.84.67.77 (talk) 21:54, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

corrections to my userpage

Thanks. Maybe I could explain the differences between EP and BP. Thanks so much for helping out. It's awesome.

learnportuguese 17:40, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the corrections. No, it wasn't that I prefer Brazilian Portuguese over European Portuguese. I had just written what I had heard.

learnportuguese 17:51, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not trying to offend you or anything. I am just a beginner so half of what I wrote was probably wrong anyway. I was not trying to be prejudiced toward European Portuguese. I think both are equally valid versions of the language. You have to think in terms of history and evolution of languages. That's how I think of Portuguese. Just as Brazilian culture differs from European culture, so the way people speak also differs. English English isn't any better than American English; they're just different, and that's OK, right? :) Thanks for adding the information. It was really helpful. I'm learning so much! :)

learnportuguese 00:21, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I was trying to use more formal language because when I first go the Portugal or Brasil or wherever, I won't know anyone, so it's best to start a little more formally. That's why I used sua and fala. That's all..... I wasn't trying to offend anyone. :)

learnportuguese 00:21, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um, well, did n't you change Qual é a sua opinião? yourself earlier? That was incorrect? :) Don't worry, I'm not angry, just curious.

learnportuguese 00:25, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was pretty sure you hadn't been offended, but I wanted to be completely sure. That's why I said that. Again, I'm being educated so much. This is the power of the Internet.

Re: your message

I just received a message and you stating that I might have "vandalized" some page; i find it hard to believe; as I was out all day yesterday doing a lot of preparations for a trip and didn't even get home till late. Any sort of information regarding this alleged "vandalism" would be appreciative. Plus i can start figuring out who to kill for getting into my room when it was locked.

--75.82.92.255 17:32, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information; now i know who to kill because one of my friends was mysteriously talking a whole lot about sheep and Norway....but; yeah, I do have a registered account, and i only use it for when I am personally making edits, revisions, blah blah blah....90% of the time i'm on here simply just to read articles. Well,....i do apologize for the jack-ass who messed up articles. Take care

Portuguese

How would you say that you're very particular about pronouncing Portuguese? I'll need to know that so people don't think I'm trying to make fun of them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Learnportuguese (talkcontribs) 14:24, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if I confused you. What I mean to say is a lot of people want to speak English. But I want to speak Portuguese. So I don't want people to think I'm trying to be disrespectful by trying to speak their language. Having good pronunciation (for me anyway) is a sign that I have respect for the other cultures because I am making an honest effort to learn the language. I am showing that I am open-minded. Plus the better pronunciation I have, the easier it will be for native Portuguese speakers to understand me. I hope that was clearer. :)

I want to learn Portuguese well, so I practice my pronunciation a lot. I get very frustrated with myself when I get the pronunciation wrong.

learnportuguese 15:41, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One thing I find really hard to master in Portuguese is how to write the words why and because. I know they are almost the same. Is there a way I can remember to tell them apart?

learnportuguese 16:24, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's cool I think to ask "Porque é que...?" Doesn't that mean "Why is that...?"?

Yeah, but I WANT to learn Portuguese. :) That's the beauty of it. I think to speak English would be lazy of me. Like I said, I'm trying to show respect for the other cultures. Since I want to be a radio journalist, I will want to interview people for stories. It would be convenient for me to be able to talk with them in Portuguese. Then they wouldn't have to use English. They could just say things naturally. learnportuguese 18:35, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Double standard

Why is it that it is okay for you to "undo unilateral move"[1], but not okay for me to do so? You've jumped on me many times for doing exactly the same thing. Gene Nygaard 15:07, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, stop trying to game the system, Husond. You can start with this one, though there are other more egregious cases: moved Wanda Gág to Wanda Gag over redirect: revert improper, unreferenced and undiscussed move) Gene Nygaard 16:39, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I accept your tacit admission that you can make no distinction, and will let it go at that. Just putting you on notice not to attempt to apply any double standard if I revert somebody else's undiscussed move, just as you did with Þingeyri. Gene Nygaard 19:24, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

my name

-) That's just great! :-) I've never seen my name written how someone might pronounce it. It was fascinating to see. Oh well, I bet I'll have trouble with some Portuguese sounds even if I get near-fluent. There's a point where a person can't have a perfect accent in a language no matter how near-fluent they are. Language learning is all a fascinating process. I must say though I do envy you for being bilingual. You're bound to get a better job and faster because you are already bilingual and have been from an early age. I on the other hand have to work at it. :-) learnportuguese 16:14, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Portuguese treated as a dialect

Bye. If you have any trouble reading this, I'll gladly translate it. GRAU

You stated on Talk:Main Agency of Missiles and Artillery of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation that Main Agency of Missiles and Artillery of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is the "complete, accurate and encyclopedic designation of its subject". Please, could you explain the fact that, as I have raised in this discussion, searching for the title with google, eliminating Wikipedia and its mirrors, returns a single result, which is irrelevent anyway, whereas searching for GRAU (using "missile" as a qualifier) returns 46,700 results. WP:NC states that the most commonly used name should be used, and I believe that this is GRAU. It's the same with NASA. The acronym is used as the title because it is far more commonly used. I am posting this here as the discussion will probably close today, and I would like you to be able to review your comment quickly, before the discussion closes, if you wish to do so in light of new evidence. --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 07:14, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and a request

Thank you for protecting Blood Brothers (comics), at which one editor with a long history of contentious editing (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics/Request for comment/Asgardian) was consistently going against consensus, formatting style, etc.

It's happening again at Speed Demon (Marvel Comics). You can see here that editors User:Emperor, User:J Greb, User:ThuranX and myself all agree with User:Doczilla's edit-proposal, and User:Asgardian continues to ignore consensus and basically continue to do whatever he wants, often with misleading edit summaries (see J Greb note here.

The Dark Knight

Hi, I was wondering if you could unprotect The Dark Knight (film). I was going to file a request at WP:RFPP, but I saw the disclaimer to contact the admin who last protected the page, which appears to be you. There was a complaint at Talk:The Dark Knight (film) about the protection (not assuming good faith to boot), and I think enough time has passed to warrant unprotection. I think the original issue was due to a flood of anonymous IPs swooping in to add unverifiable information around the time of Comic-Con, so this time has passed. Let me know if you are able to do unprotect. Thanks! —Erik (talkcontrib) - 12:39, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

learning English

(If I get this right.....) Olá e boa tarde. Well, when you said the younger generation learns English in Portugal, did you mean people like my age (in their 20s)? I'm in my 20s. learnportuguese 20:04, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My bad about the double greeting. :-) It's a mark that I'm definitely still a beginner. Hmmm, that's interesting. So I will still try to speak Portuguese with the locals when I get to Portugal. I find it fascinating that I can go to another country and (if I wanted to) I wouldn't have to learn Portuguese at all. It's also a little depressing for me because I think languages are one component of making the world an interesting place to live in. Boa noite também. learnportuguese 01:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh cool! :-) Carnaval sounds really really fun! What's a water pistol? Sounds a little scary. :-) learnportuguese 01:31, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rfa

Have you made my Rfa yet? It is okay if you did not:) If you frogot that is okay to:) We all froget things:)--SJP 21:18, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No offense, but I am going to nominate myself. I would like to make my own statement. Feel free to make a statement on my support vote bro:)Have a nice day:)--SJP 21:37, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Its okay:) This Rfa has been sucessful, even though I am going to pull out. I am happy with the outcome because I have gotten a lot out of it. I am going to be taking part a lot more in Xfd's, will try to do some article editing, and will help at the help desk. I will also need to improve on communicating with people good when I am put under pressure. Do you mind closing the Rfa for me? I am trying to stay away from it. Someone called me immature and said I have not listened to advice since my last Rfa. Both of those comments I find to be pretty offensive. Thanks for your time:)--SJP 21:45, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if you would like feel free to give me advice on how to improve at any time. I love to get advice.--SJP 22:14, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
