Re:Notability issues and afd debates

Thank you! Has a lot happened while I was away? I see that the Hong Kong list is finally an FL! Regarding the proposed guideline, do you think Emporis and SkyscraperPage count as "independent and reliable sources"? If they do, then that would basically mean that every skyscraper is notable. Otherwise, very few buildings are, and we will have a lot of AfD nominations in the future. Also, do you think the guideline should be "Office and residential buildings" instead of "Office buildings"? Or should residential have its own category?

Anyway, great job on the Bellevue list! I just have one question - do you think that we shouldn't create articles for the buildings? I am worried that even with the new proposal started, it will receive opposition due to several buildings not having articles. Cheers, Raime 22:47, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

I think I want to work on that paris list. --SRX 14:48, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Good idea on the Paris list; I had completely forgot that we had made it a goal awhile ago to bring the list back up to featured status. About Emporis and SkyscraperPage, they are independent, but one could easily argue their reliability; they often contradict each other, and we know for a fact that Emporis has had several errors. Nevertheless, I think several buildings will get by with just Emporis refs, as the building pages on the site often contain the "fact" sections at the bottom with a good deal of encyclopedic information that doesn't qualify as "directory" information. Cheers, Raime 16:24, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
That is a good question; looking at the Paris diagram, it seems that a list considering only buildings within the city limits would be fairly boring; 8 (including the Eiffel Tower) 110 m+ buildings and then just several identical buildings in complexes that are between 100 m and 110 m. However, a list on the La Defense district alone would be nice, but at the same time we shouldn't have a "Paris region" list and basically then a second "Paris region minus Paris" list, as it would be too redundant. What do you think? Cheers, Raime 18:35, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
But the suburbs list would far overshadow the main Paris list, as almost all of the skyscrapers are in La Defense. Cheers, Raime 18:44, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Notice

I don't know if you are aware that I completed the rest of the review of the above article and it has been more than 2 weeks since the last response, if the comments are not addressed I may have to fail the article.--SRX 02:53, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Woo, right on time, as I just logged on and one of my tasks was to fail the nomination, but you addressed my concerns, so I passed it, congrats.--SRX 23:36, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

NA-class vs Cat-class

I notice that you categorize numerous category pages as NA-class for WikiProject Mountains. Upon checking I see that this project does in fact have the Category-class in place. __meco (talk) 18:57, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Good work

On the mountain tagging - do you see any value in tagging the relevant climbing arts as well -s omeone tried discouraging me cos they thought the project had died - but i thought if it ever revived... interested in your opinion - cheers SatuSuro 02:41, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Good to see

Some tagging and assessing for mountains pass by on my watch list - there is a small problem though - the other week iwas doing some tagging for climbing - and it seems there is a grey area where - mountain/climbing and other projects might all stake claim - do you have any ideas on this? SatuSuro 02:29, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

The lakers message template had something wrong so you got three messages when there should have been just the one - sorry to have clogeed your talk page with these SatuSuro 03:09, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Not too sure why you dont want to talk - but there is also where in the Indonesian project the volcanoes are double tagged with the volcano project - has that happened everywhere else? SatuSuro 06:48, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Tazewell High School Notable Alumni

I recently tried to remove a listing of Dr. Terry Mullins from the Notable Alumni section better explained in the discussion section of the Tazewell High School listing page. I was told that it had been reverted by you but I also received a message from Apparition11 about this (listed below). I would appreciate if my change could be allowed since I would like to keep the section containing notable alumni to the same standards as actually being of something of note, not just a local author who has achieved his doctorate. Under the current standards of the secion I could go through the Tazewell High School yearbooks and list everyone who has achieved such greatness, which would need a wikipedia page of its own. Thanks again for your help and I'm here if you have any comments on the matter.

"Hello. When I reverted your edits, I did so because I noticed that they had been reverted before and they were just removing information without an edit summary. Usually when this happens, it is vandalism. I looked deeper into your edits after reverting them and saw that I was wrong. I apologize for reverting without looking closer first, but, most of the time, it is vandalism. Just a tip, try to make sure to leave a description of your edits in the edit summary, so we know 'what' and 'why' you are doing it. We won't get so trigger-happy this way :)

I have no opinion one way or the other (I'm completely oblivious) as to whether he should be listed or not, so I left this message here instead of the article talk page. Your logic makes sense to me and there is no article for the man, so I'd say that it's fine, but I'm not well versed in what is usually acceptable for natable alumni. If you leave an edit summary, I'm sure that your edits will be taken more seriously and will be much more likely to stick or at least be discussed. Again, my apologies. Happy editing! although you reverted my edits you have kept the edits of the user before me. I urge you to help me root out this vandal. ujjal singh is not notable[1]. in addition he adds a POV statement about kapura brar. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.112.20.78 (talk) 03:27, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Good Work!

I'm almost certain that you reverted seven out of the last ten vandalized pages I've looked at, and sent the appropriate warnings! Aside from the mild annoyance of having been beaten to it time and again.. It's great to see such alacrity amongst us. 23:40, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Aye, I've noticed the same today. Keep up the great work! Calor (talk) 03:24, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

No problem. I've done the same thing a number of times. I'd something like this happen than for vandalism to run rampant. RandorXeus (talk) 17:42, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

The edit in Bogdan Raczynski

Hello, I appreciate your work in against vandalism, but it is known that Bogdan Raczynski wishes to remain anonymous on the gaming section of his page. If evidence is needed, I will provide it. http://img339.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mrbasil2jm2.jpg That rule(and rules in general) is made by Bogdan himself, and that shows that he does not want to know.

You may be wondering why so much spam is on Philosophy of Mind, it's because some newfag at 4chan posted to press Save Changes. 89.242.198.30 (talk) 20:15, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Why don't you

I already explain the edit. Champa isn't part of Cambodian history but Vietnamese. If you don't believe then just read article Champa, the kingdom located rightfully in present central Vietnam. The list of kings of Champa is already in list of Vietnamese monarchs, so it's not need in list of Cambodian kings. Please think about your action before you call someone else as vandalism. 71.107.79.64 (talk) 23:06, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

User Sotar Warning

Illusions

The reason why I remove the methods to illusions is because there is no need to expose them like this. Magic isn't supposed to be a puzzle to figure out the method, it is made for entertainment. Sadly, most non-magicians won't be impressed by all the skill it takes to perform these illusions once they know the method, and then the entertainment is gone. Quebec

Hello,

I like the fact that you actually took time to revert my own edit in the article Quebec. I presume you might be able to answer one or more of the following questions: did you like it? Was it funny according to you? What might you say I might add to the sentence to make it sound funnier? Would you see such a phrase appearing on the internet? If not, then why would you not? Thanks a lot for your time, 76.68.237.160 (talk) 01:50, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for reverting vandalism on Don Alfonso (song). Someone must have been EWI to have been so upset when I tried to resolve an editing dispute with a "meet you half way" solution.
