Athletic directors[edit]

I think a list of Iowa's athletic directors is a worthwhile addition to the article Iowa Hawkeyes. The article provides a history of Iowa's athletic department, discusses the origins of Iowa's nickname and mascot, and lists historical championships. Iowa Hawkeyes seeks to provide a broad overview Iowa's athletic department, current and past, and a list of previous athletic directors is not out of place here, IMO. I made a compromise. I really do not know how to integrate prose into the list though. I'm beginning to think I should add a history section like the one on Michigan State Spartans. From there, I could reformat the athletic directors list into a smaller infobox. What do you think about that? – ICDaniel (talk) 21:56, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
An infobox for Iowa's athletic directors is a logical next step, and seven of the 12 already have their own Wiki articles. A history section would also work well, taking info from the header (which is currently too long) and pagentry section. The nickname, Herky, songs, and AD's could all be covered in such a history section. I must say you've been doing fine work on these articles, and I admire your efforts. Thank you. I'll slowly keep chipping away at the women's sports section, and soon later I'll begin working on a history section. But hey, no one's keeping you from changing anything; I'm not great by any means in my article writing. Thanks again. – ICDaniel (talk) 02:07, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I'm beginning to think the athletic directors section is good as is. I'll complete the women's sports section and see what happens from there. The lead length seems reasonable (the page will be ~40,000 bytes when done), but I can trim it down if need be. I'd really like to see the page meet GA criteria; that would make it all worthwhile. – ICDaniel (talk) 07:38, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
