Your addition to IEA Greenhouse Gas R&D Programme has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text, or images borrowed from other websites, or printed material without a verifiable license; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Vsmith (talk) 13:13, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Seems the original article was a copyright violation and has been deleted as such. You are welcome to write a new article on the organization using valid independent sources. Thanks, Vsmith (talk) 13:34, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've replied to your post on my talk page. Vsmith (talk) 16:01, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

July 2012

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username (IEAGHG) may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because It appears to represent a group. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. SmartSE (talk) 19:15, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Can you please visit WP:CHU and ask for your username to be changed? Per our username policy, it is not permitted to have a username which infers that you are editing on behalf of an organisation and it could lead to you being blocked from editing. It is fine to change it to "[your name] at IEAGHG". Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks SmartSE (talk) 19:18, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will add that your repeated use of the word "we" in your comments suggests that this account is accessible to more than one person. As such, it is likely to be blocked indefinitely as a compromised account. Wikipedia accounts are assigned to individuals, not groups. An account should represent only you and no one else. You are free to include your organization name in your account name when you request renaming, but be sure that your username represents a real person. A name like "IEAGHG webmaster" would not be acceptable because that isn't a person, it's a role. A name like "John Doe IEAGHG" would be fine, as it clearly belongs to one person. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:47, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.
