Hi I dream of horses. Recently I began monitoring Category:Lang and lang-xx template errors and began work to clear out any mainspace pages that appear there. Within the last week or so I noticed a couple of times where there was a periodic bump up in appearance of pages (just a handful each time). It appears that your AWB task to add {{Lang}} to pages is introducing an error. Specifically, {{Lang}} does not allow italics markup within the template. So, when your AWB task wraps text that includes italics, for example, it generates an error message ([ ] Error: {{Lang}}: text has italic markup (help)) that is seen in "Show preview" and it puts the page in Category:Lang and lang-xx template errors. Here are three recent instances: [1], [2], [3]. For the handful that have been appearing there periodically, I or others can tweak them manually, but I was wondering if there is anything you can tweak in your AWB routine that would prevent the error from being introduced. Perhaps adding |italic=unset
to the parameter if it detects italics within the text? – Archer1234 (talk) 11:02, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Archer1234 Yikes! That's actually a custom edit. I'll adjust my editing accordingly. Thanks for telling me! I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 23:46, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Hi..."I think it’s fair to say that this country has gone through some tough times these past few years. We have been through some stuff. We’re just now coming off a historic pandemic that wreaked havoc on families, on schools, businesses, communities. Everybody was impacted, some more than others. A lot of folks lost people that they loved. Maybe some people in this room lost some people that they loved. And the pandemic also highlighted, in some cases, made worse, problems we’ve been struggling with for years, an economy works real well for folks right at the top, but not so well for ordinary people. - @Asep Ramadhani: Is that a speech you've copied and pasted or something? I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 06:03, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
You have previously edited Cardiff Arms Park. An editor has decided to split the article (yet again). I would like to know your view on the new edit....see Talk:Cardiff_Arms_Park#Article_Split_(again). SethWhales talk 20:21, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Seth Whales Yeah, I've probably edited Cardiff Arms Park. I'm a WikiGnome, don't really do content editing, and don't have an opinion. I do agree with you that
[A] discussion needs to take place first
, though. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 21:16, 13 November 2022 (UTC)
Question from Lucy Hayter on User:Lucy Hayter/sandbox (20:46, 14 November 2022)
[edit]Hello, I am trying to title my article page and change it from the automatic title its been given. Can you give me any help on this? Thanks. --Lucy Hayter (talk) 20:46, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Lucy Hayter Per the notice I put on your talk page, I've redirected the draft you created to draftspace. The software has now automatically retitled the page. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 03:42, 15 November 2022 (UTC)
Inquiry on the Orphan tagging on Tseng Sheng-guang
[edit]Good morning, thank you for fixing three typos on the article Tseng Sheng-guang last night, but you also added the strange "Multiple Issues" Template referring to "Orphan" Category, while the article had been actually linked with two more language pages in the Ukrainian and Chinese (Taiwanese) Wikipedia databases through the Wikidata system already since its creation on the day one.
Tseng is newly deceased along with the other 2 Australian and Japanese colleagues, and has been recorded in the official archives of both states two weeks ago - though being a still-developing case, there may be more data to add later, but how many links do you expect to have been made at this moment? The only related interest side in this story is the Russian official, but do you think that they would report this person with statements or would create a Russian page for him to link with? - if so, that would be a tough task, and is not the issue of this article itself by the way, since this person's allegiance states have been covered by volunteer editors.
Also the Neutrality Dispute tag remains an irony: Russian government is currently condemned and sanctioned for violating the international laws by its conducts relating to the discoveries during the unit's campaign by many states in the international community, how do you wish to be "neutral" in the Wikipedien standard in this matter? - like the patterns of Spain and Sweden did during the WWII - which actually lead to them once having hard time to join the United Nations later? - when it comes to the basic truth of being right and wrong, there is no otherwise choice but have to choose a side to believe. Please explain what you are doing, or the tag should be updated. Mickie-Mickie (talk) 14:11, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Mickie-Mickie English Wikipedia articles really do need to be internally linked from other English Wikipedia articles to get attention any amount of attention from people who can actually work on it. There's many stub articles that are really only stubs because they aren't linked from anywhere else on the English Wikipedia. Tseng Sheng-guang would be an exception to this rule; I'm sure you're a big part of the reason why, along with bilingual editors, but it could only benefit from internal links.
- As for the neutrality tag, you're going to have to ask Curbon7 about that, since he is the person that added it here. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 21:05, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
Help/Guide me
[edit]hi Recently I submit article on wikipedia "Gabbar Sangrur". every fact is truth and fine. he is a big name of punjabi film industry. I don't know someone nominated the article for deletion. please help/guide me. how can I continue that article. thanks
regards vikash VikasKinha (talk) 00:42, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- @VikasKinha:
- You've had a lot of articles be nominated for deletion/declined at AfC. Maybe you need to stop creating articles for a while.
- Any reason why you also asked for help from @Pranesh Ravikumar, Dhruv edits, RPSkokie, and PohranicniStraze: instead of just one person?

Hey there - I'd love to create a Wiki page for our business, Dribbleup, but don't want to get a ding for being a new user. Is it best to use Sandbox or should I directly edit a few pages first, and is there a minimum # of days I should wait before attempting to publish? --DUCharlie (talk) 21:02, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
- @DUCharlie It's a good thing you asked. If you disclose that you own/are employed at DribbleUp here, you'll be allowed to write the article without risking an account block for Terms of Use violations. However, writing about your business/employer/yourself is only allowed because it's inevitable, not because it's a good idea. You could write a draft via articles for creation, but it's probably going to get declined due to lack of being noted and neutrality. You could do ten minor edits and wait four days to write the article directly into mainspace, but it'll likely get deleted; again, this is because lack of notability and neutrality.
- The problem is, no one can think clearly about themselves, those close to them, whomever is signing their paycheck, and the businesses they compete with. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 21:44, 22 November 2022 (UTC)
