A tag has been placed on Real life superheroes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TheXenocide (talk) 19:39, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, we already have an article on Real-life superhero, so your article shouldn't be deleted. Instead, I would suggest that you take the content in your article, Real life superheroes, and merge it to Real-life superhero. I remember reading an article in City Pages about real-life superheroes, and there's other coverage besides that, so I don't think the speedy deletion criteria applies. If you have questions about the merge/redirect process, let me know and I'll answer them. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 20:32, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spam on Real life superheroes[edit]

When you see the individuals inserting links to the sites again, I advise using a tag like {{subst:uw-spam}} on their talk page. If the spam continues you can add {{subst:uw-spam2}} with progressively increasing numbers (up to 4) Once you have issued the fourth warning , you can make a report to WP:WPSPAM. That should get the user taken care of. If the spamming continues, folks will find that their links are blacklisted at this site.

As a side note, User:63.3.22.3 has already been reported by another editor to the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. What you have to be careful of in a case like this is getting caught in your own trap. In other words, if this or any other individual spams the site with links and you delete them without any warnings, someone who happens by the article may throw the edit warring tag on you as well and get you blocked! What I suggest is if you run into this situation again, use the spam warnings to level 3. After the third time the spammer inserts the links, use the {{subst:uw-3RR}} tag. If the spammer inserts the links again, go to the page above and report the person for edit warring. That way some random admin will know that your edits were in line with WP guidelines and may even step in to help you.

Unfortunately I was not around at the time that the individual came back to spam the page, otherwise I would have made the 3RR report myself. But you can help by placing these tags on the page when you revert links so that other editors can see that warnings have been issued and the matter can be escalated. I will be the first to admit that sometimes, I don't hit people with warnings right away since many people are "hit and run" spammers and won't be back. But if there is a talk page history already, I have less tolerance and start moving up the warning chain pretty quick. Thanks for your help in keeping WP spam-free.
